Got my shipping notice from SS as well! Should have my full set by Friday next week. But I DID get my parted out Head and hands from Toy Anxiety today to replace my modded Sideshow version. Pretty happy with the result. Just can't wait for the full set now!

The pipe only fits in 1 of the staves , the one with the gem ( the moria staff) can't fit. So you're left with the one with the little bag . The pipe goes in that one
Right, that's the one. I just can't get it to fit in right with the pics of the actual prop. And there are holes for it to slide in, but it doesn't fit in right.

Some pictures outdoor...

I have a question about the moria staff... Anyone know why there's a holo on the top of the gem?

Some better daylight pictures. The hair looks a little messy because it was close fitted inside the hat, but it can be better fuzzed to hold his hairstyle ;)

I've just received a message from a friend that sir Peter Jackson is visiting my home town today and I know where he'll be in an hour.
Too bad I haven't received my 1/6 Gandalf. It would have been a cool box for me to be signed by the director & producer himself. I've got like way too much stuff packed. I hope he's in a jolly mood.

edit: This will make a great display with the Asmus Gandalf.

He was in a rush but he made time for a picture with me. He even signed my book collection. :yess:

Got mine today and only had a chance to briefly check out just the figure - the ankles seem tight enough, it's just how the feet move about in the loose boots that seems to prevent the figure from being more stable. I'm going to try the tape trick.

The hair is thin, but mine seems well distributed across the head and I probably wouldn't have even noted it as an issue unless I was aware of it and looking for it.

The box... I could tell immediately from the tear/dent in the shipper that the art box was going to be in bad shape. Oh well.

I'm looking forward to messing around with what could be my last ever 1/6 figure (unless Tamashii bring out their R2-D2).

I'm glad someone else mentioned this. I've had my Gandalf for a few weeks now and I've held off on voicing my opinion because I know I will grow to love this figure. But this and few other things left me with a feeling of "prototype". Overall I think he's great and a bit of futzing will make me love him more but a bead with a hole in it for the gem...
Mine also had gold paint smears on the stand, loose ankels, and an oddly gold tinge beard.

The frustrating thing is other parts of the figure scream high quality so it leaves one with an odd feeling knowing it's good but it could be great.

:horror whaaaaaaaaat????

:lol I know you're thinking the same

It's the Asmus learning curve. I only have two of their figures, but from my reading of the Asmus threads they continue to improve. I guess we're still at the point where some modding is still required to bring out the potential of their figures, but I cut Asmus a lot of slack because they engage with their customers and their price-point is ok for what you get. I feel a lot happier with this Gandalf than I do with Hot Toys' crappy $225 Han Solo, that's for sure.
