Back when Final Fantasy VIII came out, I found that it was a game I could relate to. The protagonist felt familiar, I could relate to him and all of his friends/associates along the way, reminded me STRONGLY of people I knew at the time. Not just personalities, but looks too.
Anyway, I've wanted a decent 1:6th version of Squall for some time so I decided to make one.

The shirt, I made.. hand sewn from a t-shirt I bought JUST for fabric. The necklace, is not finished yet but is made from a real one.
His jacket, I made from the sleeveless trenchcoat(?) from the "Andromeda" Tyr Anasazi figure. The sleeves are real leather and the collar is made from a faux fur that was on a Yoda stocking thing I bought (for the half scale Yoda head).
I ordered a second Tyr figure so I could swipe his pants/belts, it arrived today.

I almost forgot, the boots are from the Hasbro Mutt Williams figure.
I have the 1:6th gunblade due to arrive tomorrow and some gloved hands soon after.
I know I need to add another belt along with the belts on his right leg, but I'm pretty happy with it so far.
Oh yeah, I also need to add his trademark scar.

Neat idea and am looking forward to the finished product. I'm planning one myself after I'm done my Cloud, Sephiroth and Zack. I'm making my own sculpts and stuff so it won't be ready for quite a while.

Try resident evil 4 Leon S. Kennedy sculpt and mod the hair... it's more suitable for Squall bash ;)

Getting one of those heads would cost a fortune now. :horror

Wow great job on Squall. You should be very pleased with the 1/6 mastepiece arts gunblade. It has a nice weight to it and good detail.

I think the head will look sufficient once the outfit is finished, although there are better ones out there.

Looks really great so far, one of my favourite videogames and characters, even if he was a bit moody.

Thanks guys.. I agree about the head but this fills two needs,
one: it's what I have.. isn't gonna cost me anything and that Leon head is hard to find and expensive when you do lol
two: puts a stray head to good use. I didn't have any use for this guy until now.
I need to get off my butt and finish the belts, add his jacket's pockets, give him his scar and get the gloves (in the mail) on him but we've been pulling 60 hour weeks for the past couple of weeks and have another sixty next week too.

I made a tiny amount of progress.. I finished his other belt and gave him gloves. Somehow, the gloves look too large to my eyes.

Nice work! Yeah the gloved hands do look too big (not so much the right hand holding the gun blade but the left hand). Biggest problem is the head sculpt though, no matter how hard I try I still just see Gambit from the Wolverine movie. :lol

Thanks guys.. yeah, I need to look into some better gloved hands (or those cloth gloves and slip them over the hands).
You know.. funny story. Back somewhere between 2001-2003, I was working in a bakery and was hit in the face with a 400 degree rack.

It's healed up nicely since then

anyway, I'm thinking about basing the look/colors of his wound on my own.

I've added his scar and some more of his belts.

I should have a quick version of the griever necklace done by morning.

Soldier Story S2.
I figured, since Squall isn't as tall as some (5'9" according to Square) I'd put him on a body that would put him closer to that height than the truetype (which I actually bought for Indy).
I added a small amount of 2 part epoxy (you know that plumbing stuff.. cheap at wal-mart) inside the head so the S2 neck plug would work with the wider HT head hole (almost certainly the wrong term :p).

(In a childish Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen voice)
"You got it dude"
I have a partial version of the Griever Necklace done.

Only a few bits left to work on and this figure will be done.
Oh, one quick thing.. with the exception of the black belt around his waist, all of his belts are hand made with real leather. ;)

Really like the turnout man. What did you make the Griever charm out of? It looks great.

This reminds me of my younger days. Great job on him.

I made a quick and dirty single-sided cast of the one on the gunblade.
I know re-casting is frowned on, but I figured that a one-off done for the same project (and not for sale) wouldn't get too many panties in a twist.
