Well, I feel the need to fess up. So, I am a 30 year old adult man with a wife and children and a job and a mortgage and adult things. I'm the youngest of 3 kids and the only boy. When I was a kid I used to love going shopping with my mother, and my mom loved to buy toys for me, but also because she thought that the toys of the the times were amazing and she enjoyed them too. My mother still occasionally likes to call me up and say "prize day!" and show up with a lego set or other toys or what not. I mean, I can't complain she loves doing it. She was over not too long ago dropping off toys for my kids and she went into my nerd room to see how it was looking and saw all of my Hot Toys. Next thing I know she bought me TDW Armored Thor. She caught me looking at Deadpool on my phone when he was first announced and PO'd it before I knew it, her excuse was she wanted to use her reward points. Of course I feel guilty, but it makes her happy that she gets to continue what we did years ago. Of course it goes two ways, but still. Anyway, just felt I had to mention all of this for some reason.

It's all good. I'm 32 and my mom is somewhat similar. She's purchased 3 Hot Toys figures for me (birthday, Christmas, etc.). She was always fascinated by my collection from an early age. I used to be a mint on mint card collector. She loved the way I set up my old room when I lived with her. When she comes over she looks to see if I have anything new to look at. It's funny because my wife, who also purchased some for me as well, goes with her and it becomes a topic of conversation. I'm lucky that the two women in my life enjoy the hobbie and don't mind the spending.

P.S. Even my mother in law enjoys them and has her favorite (TFA Captain America).

My Mother played a huge part in my collecting life from a young age; there was always something we would hunt for together. We had a bit of a lull as I went through teenage years and my focus was more on videogame merchandise, but as I aged and appreciated more licenses she liked too it returned. I got her into Funko Pops as a mother's day gift a few years back. So that's her and my shared aspect of the collecting hobby now. She appreciates my high end stuff when she gets to see it though, so that's really fun too.

That's awesome, yeah actually my mom is a huge Ghostbusters collector. She loved all the RGB toys when I was a kid so she kept most of them and has them displayed in her den. So I try to buy what I can for her when cool stuff comes out. She loves the Matty Collector stuff.

I used to get that too when I first started collecting when my father still lived with me... He always felt the need to tell me what I shouldn't spend my money on, and with every box i brought in i would get something like "another toy, huh. don't you have bills to pay?" my replies started getting sarcastic "nah, I just like collecting pre-assembled empty boxes" shortly after that, I was never questioned again.

Very cool to have a shared interest with your mom; I can't say I do with either of my parents but I know I inherited some sort of collecting gene and have always had the need to collect something.

Edit to avoid DP: ok, I've just gone through a bit of this thread having now seen the movie. I expected it to be a bit like Kick-Ass in it's shock adult violence/language humour, and it was... but I thought it was probably a bit toned down in comparison. Which isn't a bad thing. Maybe it just seemed more shocking in Kick-Ass because it was a young girl saying and doing it.

I wonder if the bluray versions will have more R-rated editing of scenes, or at the very least some good bonus features. On the topic of kids and movies, and I've been reading IMDB a bit tonight too. I really don't think this is appropriate for kids. Not because I'm a prude, but because I think it sends the wrong message to dumb parents as to what the superhero genre is. This is smaller sub-genre of the superhero genre for adults who like comic book movies. Kids should be seeing Ant-Man or Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm not even sure Captain America is that right for them, but hey..

This is full of adult satire, like Grand Theft Auto V. If parents let young kids near this content, all they then do is complain about the suitability of it. Next thing the pressure is put on studios etc.. Next thing the conservative lobbyists start appearing..

But one other thing. Parents being able to take kids in, in the first place. Different countries, different definitions of different movie ratings. But here the movie is R-16 and ID required. (I suspect they didn't push R-18 to trying and broaden the young adult audience).. That's both to buy the ticket, and to enter the theatre. A child is simply not allowed in to view the movie. I'm stunned that in other countries a young child can even get into a R rated movie.

Games, like GTA.. well that is a big can of worms. Theoretically illegal to sell to under 18, but as we all know there are ways around that. I've been to midnight launches of GTAIV and GTAV with parents or grandparents with young children with them. Connect the dots on that one. Still, in the last couple of years this has tightened up a lot. Games specialist retailers are now a lot more aware of the laws. General retailers not so to a degree, but even then some family type chains (like our equivalent of Wal-Mart in the US) now won't even sell R rated games)

Oh, on the topic of the figure.. I'm finding it hard to resist now. Maybe I'll put my $100 of RP onto this instead of the endoskeleton..

I'm not the biggest Deadpool fan but I really really like this figure...

The character never appealed to me but saw the movie after seeing all the rave reviews. Didn't live up to the hype to me~
The style of humor isn't my cup of tea, and i guess i don't like my superhero movies (and comics for that matter) to be comedic. With all the talk about how they stayed true to the comics, I most likely wouldn't like the comics either.

Figure is great, but no interest in the character.
