Besides the outrageous price, this armor release is generic. The neck is extremely long with the HS inserted, as an 3d artist myself that's the first thing I noticed. I have no clue what the artists were thinking or if they know their anatomy. To top it all off, his weapons look damn right stupid with his cute wings... Hot toys can take this figure/pricing and shove it up their you know what!

It's a prototype. Remember the BvS Fatman prototype and now it is the best Batman they have made. The have over a year to make this look perfect.

I can't comment about the weapons i need to see the movie 1st. Could be cool or could be something i leave in the box.

I bet you this will look very similar to what they're showcasing. The design is set in stone already. Either way if they change the weapons or not it's a poor release. It's a huge slap in the face whoever buys this.

400$ for butterfly iron man :) believe me its too expensive guys .. But anyway we will buy...

Lol i'm not buying this. $400 just for that? It barely has anything. Iron man age of ultron had more accesories lol. But hey thats just me

I just remember when i ordered the 45 i was not impressed with the photos but took a chance because i'm an IM freak and i was very happy when i pulled it out of the box. So i agree the price is total BS but i'm pretty sure i will be happy with it.
I have friends who think i am crazy for spending any money on these things so anyone on here thinking i'm crazy for buying this one means nothing.

Nice looking figure. But I don't like the design in general. It's too organic and futuristic. It somehow reminds me of the EVA units from Neon Genisis Evangelion. I prefer the classic look.
Besides, no way my Mrs would approve that price :lol

This could be RDJ last visit to iron man so may have to pick this up. But that price week! [emoji32]

This is true for me as well but once i show them up close they are impressed at least and kinda get it lol.

This is also plastic (as opposed to metal) and is reusing a base mold that (that they probably made their money back on the first go around).

Why is it People still don't know they iron Man figures are mostly plastic? I would definitely not call the iron Man figures metal when it's still mostly plastic.

No base (only a standard stand), not enough accessories and $407... Well it's an easy pass.

I know what the composition is. I was referring to the metal die process of the production. Even only being around 30%, that is still more expensive to create and cast dies versus plastic.

Here's the thing: this is an expensive specialized hobby. These aren't mass market toys. If $400 is to much, then fine don't buy it, but don't try to suddenly pretend that this hobby is affordable or budget minded.

I seriously doubt that Hot Toys is clearing huge margins on these figures. Maybe they are, but probably not.

First there are the licensing fees they are paying to Disney, which are probably in the millions.

Then they are paying their artists, who are doing amazing jobs and, given that this is a Hong Kong based company and not China, are probably being paid very well for their skills. (Which they should be.)

Then you have the production process. Figures like Iron Man are always going to be more expensive because there are fewer molds they can reuse from previous figures. Making those molds is probably the most expensive part of this whole process. The dies for the metal parts are going to be even more expensive.

And then there are the supply costs. The production of plastics are tied to the cost of petroleum, which can fluctuate quite a bit. If one supplier goes out of business they may have to go to another, which may raise prices. International tariffs and import taxes can dramatically raise production costs if any of their suppliers are outside of Hong Kong.

Now most mass market toys make this money back by selling very large quantities and spreading that cost out over hundreds of thousands (if not millions of a particular figure.)

A $20 action figure you buy at Target probably cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to prototype and produce, but if they are going to sell 2,000,000 of them, they can spread that cost out over that entire amount.

Hoy Toys have a production run of a few thousand. That means there are far less of them to spread that cost out over. Meaning that each figure has to reflect a higher percentage of that production cost.

It's fine to say that $400 is too much money for you to want to spend on an Iron Man figure, but let's be realistic about what these things are and why they cost what they do.

If no one buys this, then maybe Hot Toys reevaluates their current strategy and moves back away from Die Cast, or tries to cut back on accessories to compensate for rising costs.

Does anyone even know the actual HT Hong Kong price? HT isn't charging 407. That is a markup for American retailers.

407 is a joke for this.......when last year they could do a better diecast with better base for far less
