This is my grail project. I have made and upgraded so many parts to get my ANH Vader as close to perfect as my abilities will take me, and in the past few years of work he’s still incomplete.

My hope is that I can finally finish him with these amazing parts. I want this figure to be nearly indistinguishable from someone in a costume, and these parts look like they will make that possible.

Thanks guys. Again, I cannot really guarantee that these parts will fit Sideshow or Hot Toys pieces. I don't have any of their parts to compare my project to, but I've heard they may be slightly oversized. Unsure. But I hope you won't have too many issues getting things to look good.

Did a little more work on the dome today. May be lucky to finish it tomorrow, if all goes well. Then all there's left is making those round hole openings on the sabers, but I need to study some videos on how best to do that, but hopefully it won't be too much work.

I'll happily modify any of the pieces I already have and will end up using - body, robes, hands, boots, etc. - to make these pieces look the best they can. These will be the reference everything else needs to be adapted to. :)

Yeah, it's one of the issues - that pretty much all the best Vader figs of the past few years have been 10-15% oversized, as in all the parts - boots, armor etc. Hopefully these accurate parts can be blended with the oversized HT and SSC parts okay.

Dome is done. Feeling happy. And tired. Now to tackle the sabers. :)

I really can't wait to see these painted up in the accurate Rolls Royce colors.

Okay... it's been a long, kinda hard stretch and I learned a lot of new things regarding 3D modeling. Techniques, but also that I find it really exhausting and tiresome. I like 3D scanning, but actually working on 3D models is a PITA.

However, the work for the current print batch has concluded and the printing company has been contacted.

Parts such as the basic DJ face mask, symmetrical helmet, trooper helmets and other bits will be saved for later, as some of those parts still need some work and I don't want to wait until those are done to get things printed. So, when I hear back from the company, I will upload the models to them for printing. I really can't wait to see how these will all look printed.

Here are all the parts laid out.

Great news!

One thing I was thinking about while mentally piecing together this figure: you didn't by any chance make a belt buckle as well, right? I think that's the only sculpted piece not currently included (counting boots and gloves as soft goods, technically). I have kaiyodo, SS and HT belt buckles, but having one 100% in scale with these items would be great.

A friend of mine made some for me in metal to use for my statue project, but they will be kinda hard to do in resin as they are very thin. It would be better to photo-etch those. I've been trying to get him to consider making more, so I can direct people to him for those parts.

Well, if someone could measure their HT or Sideshow belt buckle it would be easy to determine which, if any, is sized correctly for 1:6 scale.

Yes please :)

Jon at Fullmetal made an amazing metal buckle for me. Slightly crooked and everything. His stuff is a little expensive, but worth it.

That's looking great. I can see if I can get some measurements and good reference of the three versions and perhaps he can use that to see how close he got in size and would be cool if he'd do the variations. :)

I’m sure he would. He has the general“pattern” now once he made mine.

There have been some changes while I wait for the printing company to get back to me with a quote on the pieces. I have a new producer that people can just contact to sign up for parts with when things are ready. Sean Dabbs contacted me about the Dave Prowse head I had him work on some years back and we worked it out so he would finish it and handle the Vader and Stormtrooper project. My previous producer was okay with the switch as he was already busy with his own projects.

So, to get things going we are currently trying to raise interest for the Prowse head first, originally sculpted by Mike Warren and then reworked into its current form by Sean Dabbs. I will post more about it as the current 3D model will be tweaked, updated and perfected, as I couldn't afford to get it finished previously, so had been trying to make the finishing fixes on the print itself but got stuck. This will now be done on the 3D model by Sean - and anyone familiar with Sean's work will know it will turn out stellar.

The run will be handled by Sean, but interest for it is gathered by Marko Haase on Facebook, as he's the client who approached Sean to make the Prowse head. I will link to the interest thread he made or I can pm you his e-mail address if you want to sign up for the run. When contacting him please mention what forum you saw this on - The Prop Den or Sideshowcollectors, so we can keep track of everyone.

This is the Prowse head as it currently looks. The finished piece will have a lot of changes done to it.

Cool to have a Prowse head but disappointing if this is going to delay the Vader parts now?
I'd much rather have the fantastic Vader parts first and then maybe spring for a Prowse head in the future although being honest, would hardly ever display it like that.
Let us know if anything can be done to shift the focus back onto the Vader parts (unless I have misunderstood what you've described).

Can you clarify who I need to contact about getting Vader parts only? I'm not on Facebook and I'm unclear about what's happening with the Vader and Trooper parts now. Thanks.

The Vader parts are still coming soon - they have been sent to the printing company already and will be printed as soon as I've received a quote and things have been finalized. They will not be delayed by this. It's just that we are ready to gather interest for Prowse now, while we won't know pricing for the Vader parts until we get the parts to the mold maker. Trooper helmets and additional Vader stuff (potentially a RotJ verison) will be in the second print batch and will be sent off to the printing company within the coming months.
