so I did try and “futz” him a bit. Here’s a before and after. Never really had to do this before. My previous collection was mostly DC and Star Wars. So it was a bit of an experience. He also wears his hat all the time so I never really bothered

Hope you guys all enjoy him, especially you @Gipetto0812 :lol He's been standing on my work desk since I got him. Still amazed day to day. Show off Legolas already INART..

Did you futz the hair and beard a lot, or does yours really came with so much less?

I really don't understand inart... with all the capacity problems in the production, why spend time rooting more hair and beard?

I got my Gandalf on Tuesday and found time to look at it today and actually wanted to set it up.
Everything looked good. The head is nicely detailed and the hair/beard looks good.
Unfortunately, the right hand was so stuck on the wristpeg that the wristpeg broke off when I took the hand off. It's pretty stupid because now I have to wait until Onesixthkit hopefully sends me a replacement wristpeg.
Why didn't InArt include a replacement?
And yes it was probably my fault because I should have released the hand differently.
But the two parts were stuck together and I can't get the broken end out of my hand.

Just got mine from the latest batch. Thanks kit, arrived safely.

I was very worried I was going to get one with disappointing looking hair work. But I think I got lucky, really don’t have any major issues with the hair.

Looks good and I haven’t done anything with it yet, just basic futzing. The hair is easy to work with, even without water. Just reshaped the beard with my fingers and it doesn’t look too full or puffy.

I futz with it a good amount. My figure was one of the very first to be shipped and it looked pretty similar to all the ones people are getting now. I wasn't a fan of how bushy and wide the beard was out of the container. The hair on top of the head was also flaring outwards. It should curve outwards from the top of the head and then hang down close to his cheeks. The bottom portion of the beard on mine was also misshaped due to it being pressed onto the bottom of the casing during packaging.

The beard being so wide is really inaccurate to how it was styled in that film. It's the biggest thing that bothers me whenever I see how it is out of the box. Needs to be futz with for sure. I wanted the beard to be more narrow and straight since that's how it is in Fellowship. Wanted to capture that "rectangle" shape the beard gives in the movie. Don't be afraid to use a lot of water. INART uses a good deal of product in the hair so it's pretty forgiving in handling. I don't even think the later batches are that different at all. A lot of people just aren't adjusting the hair to sit closer to his face. Most of the ones I'm seeing seem to have the hair flaring outwards, which doesn't look right imo.

From what it looks like, there is variance though. It was evident with the Ledger Joker as well. The recent Gandalf batches are using less product/hold as the earlier ones.

But yes, most people aren’t futzing it or styling his hair to lay down, framing his face which helps the overall likeness to the film. Same goes for the beard. Most people have him looking like Santa Clause.

Two relatives of mine have their own copies, and they have asked me to futz it for them lol.

Thank you so much. It's a big relief to hear this.

And I'd really like to express my admiration for your work. That is also the look of Gandalf I'd like to achieve with mine...

Yes there are some utterly shocking straight out of the box pictures that people are putting on their shelf and calling it done...this figure HAS to be futzed and water treated to do it justice.

There's no doubt some level of variance. These are being hand rooted by who knows how many different workers in some factory. I just don't think it's to some extreme difference. Or at least nothing that can't be adjusted to match one another. For example, the pictures @T800kaz posted is pretty similar to how my Gandalf looked right out of the container.

A lot of what I see is the hair not being adjusted but people just showing it straight out of the box with no adjustments what's so ever. Which is fine of course but if comparing it to ones that have been adjusted, the difference will be bigger. The Santa Clause effect, like you mentioned, is what bothers me the most in pictures that I see.

No problem. Like I said, don't be afraid to mess with it. I literally tugged and squished the beard/hair around with no issues. I pressed the beard together between two wet fingers to get it more narrow and then pulled on it downwards so that it looks like it has a bit of weight to it. Make it look like it's actually hanging down his face/chest. Do the same for the hair that hangs down the side of his face. Pressed them to be more inwards and closer to his cheeks. Tug of them downwards so that they don't flare out as much. Avoid that bushy look, unless if you want that of course. Same goes for his clothing. Water treating it helps give it that drapery and weighty look, which is what you want.

It’s because it actually takes less finesse and artistic skill to just glue big chunks of hair on vs trying to make it look finer and more realistic to the scale.

Wow something that HT has always done. That seems inexcusable for a company so hell bent on quality and comprehensiveness.

Moria style? Would look even nicer on a Shire style base, if you'd do a run of those for this figure.
I like a Shire style too. That’s what I made for the Asmus Gandalf when I had him. This one will be getting the deluxe treatment in a Moria style with a much larger stand footprint, multiple display positions including climbing and sitting and a place to set that beautiful book.

I wish they had added a piece or two like HT.
But then again, I kind of broke it. Although I can't think of how to get a glued part out of it right now, I guess I should have read up on it first.

Thanks for the video. I'll have a look at it over the next few days.

At last, i am now the proud owner of a Inart figure, and what a figure it is. Sadly, i had just enough time in my hands to check the content for eventual missing/broken parts. Looking forward to Wednesday when i'll be able to make a proper unboxing and first setup

Many thanks to Kit Chen for the careful packing and prompt shipment :duff
