Honestly didn't even know Shalla-Bal became a Herald?
The female Herald I remember reading as a kid was Ardina.
Created when Norrin Radd decides to stay and protect Earth, and to lure him away Galactus creates Ardina.
Not sure why they don't just use that arc and have them both?
Or if tied to FF specific introduce Nova (Frankie Raye
But only after establishing Norin Radd first.

Another reason not to watch it.
As far as I'm concerned, non of it has been our MCU since Endgame. It's all been in the Multiverse...
And if true like all the rumors initially said, I am 1000000% out of this
movie. The Silver Surfer and Thor are my 2 fav Marvel characters since the 80's... I already watched them destroy Thor. Not watching them take down Norrin as well... FU Disney... 
If they want a female herald for the big G, just use Nova FFS.... 
It's literally right there in front of their face.

He's "mostly" lost his mojo... The Last Duel and House of Gucci were great IMHO, but Napoleon wasn't anything to get too excited about. Not a bad film by any means, just not good.

I was a huge fan of the Silver Surfer as a kid, but I#m strangely unmoved by this bit of news... doesn't really bother me at all. I actually find it interesting. I mean gender/sex-swapping an alien character that will probably be mostly CG... eh.
Or maybe it's because I'm really off of the whole CBM thing.

Yet you know Disney gonna virtue signal, they could likely render the character (and concept) Gender Neutral / Non-Binary
Though it's actually not a bad character for it. This $#!+ is to predictable self parody;. They can't create anything new that people actually like, yet they resent the source material for being popular, but never actually liked it, they just want to "fix" it, make the movie about that and waving their flag about it, and try and pass that off as creativity, thinking that alone makes it a good story.
Yet if you revere the inspiring source material, interesting and noble characters and concepts (they couldn't dream of creating) or acknowledge it, you are a deamed bigoted.

I didn't realize he did House of Gucci. That wasn't bad, haven't seen The Last Duel. I thought Napoleon was poor across the board ... editing, direction, writing -- and I'm sick of Phoenix with his one-note of weird. He's like Pacino parodying himself at this point. I can't find any charm or depth in his performances now, but that's just me.

I think she's a really good actor, but can't see her as a Herald. Problem too is that I'm still thinking about what comic characters looked like in the Cretaceous period and while she's not without her own charms and particular brand of glamour, she's not an archetypal bombshell which is how I would picture the character.
What matters is telling a good story, and telling it well. If that means taking various liberties from the comics, great. If the story sucks but you have the most comic accurate version of character X you could imagine, then it doesn't matter and it's a waste of time. This has become more and more clear over the years with comic movies/shows/etc.

I actually don't have much more than a casual opinion about it: I don't have high hopes for the film based on post EG content, but would be happy to be wrong. And who knows, maybe she'll make the character her own. Stranger things have happened.

I'm out too. Eff them. SS is the ONE character I needed them to finally get RIGHT.
I give up. Not in my lifetime, I'm in my fifties. so this dream is over for a cinema Surfer done correctly.
Agreed. do Nova or something. I don't care if Shalla Bal was a herald once. This was HIS slot and shot for MCU. Captain Marvel effing took his place in Endgame for the grand cosmic powered character. I felt I already paid that woke bill. Not another dime from me again for MCU tickets or streaming.

I'll never quite understand people getting outraged over CBM casting. Yeah there have been some odd casting decisions made over the years, but usually they were in sucky movies that nobody cared about anyway. Lol
And the article makes clear that she's playing a different character from Silver Surfer, so this isn't a gender swap situation that people always like to freak out about. And so far I'm feeling a lot more optimistic about this movie than the previous attempts we got, given the much better actors involved.

I just cannot buy into the MCU’s multiverse at all. It’s a shambles.
Rather they just took a couple of years off then came out with a full reboot.
The MCU peaked years ago and has now become just another bunch of films that fade into the background.
Marvel has to keep the momentum going to keep themselves somewhat relevant. I'm hoping that once the mutants show up things pick up again.
