I agree an Artisan Barbossa from COTBP or AWE would be instant buy hell I'd even take a DMTNT.

I would love for HT to finally produce the Cannibal King 2.0 Jack with Throne. If they can make Boba with throne, they can do that for Jack

About 2 weeks I rewatched the PoTC movies and talked to someone about what a shame it was we’d likely never see a new 1/6 Jack Sparrow because of the Depp/Disney situation and how hard it is to find the DX15 at a good price, meaning I’d probably never get it.

And now here we are.

I would’ve liked to see a CoTB version too but a DMTNT version is fine as well. DX15 is still one of Hot Toys’s best so I can’t wait to see it what they have improved and added. I wonder if the sculpt will be new, hoping it is. The Black Pearl’s wheel is really nice, I always preferred it to the shark base.

Unfortunately, being an “Artisan” release means whether one gets this or not will be purely based on luck. Being overseas I’m not keen on ordering anything from Sideshow, let alone wait in a virtual line to get squat. So hopefully there’s a plastic hair version.

And I agree with everyone else here, a new Davy Jones is sorely needed, anything else would be a most welcomed surprise but Davy Jones is definitely at the top. Beast Kingdom released 1/8 figures of Jack and Davy not so long ago and Davy wasn’t licensed based on any movie, only the franchise.

So if they already have the franchise rights it would be a shame if they missed out on a new Davy, but it’s Hot Toys, stranger things have happened.
 
He's RSVP on Sideshow right now. Signed on in hopes I get one. First thing before He's up for PO is HT showing the full figure promo images.
 
In terms of the figures themselves - is the DX15 a significant enough improvement to get an upgrade over the DX06?
I ask because I have the DX06 and have been more than content with it for years but considering there may be a chance to get a DX15 or a 2.0 of it in the near future I thought it worth asking.

Depends on what you’re after really? Dx06 would be fine if you just want a good representation of Jack on your shelf. If you want to got a little further, I would argue DX15 is the overall better figure but not by much.

Here’s how I would compare the two:
  • Coat- cut n sew as well as material choice is better than DX06. The lining is more accurate to previous iterations though it could be a bit darker to be accurate to DMTNT but not a big deal. The DX15 coat hangs better than that of the DX06 as well
  • Boots- some prefer the material of the DX06 but the shape of DX15 are more accurate imo. Color is better on DX06. I repainted mine to not be such a dark brown
  • Hands are better scaled on DX15 but the DX15 has the tattoos on the knuckles and the fabric hand wrap
  • Paint work-DX06 is mostly just brown colored plastic with barely any real paint apps. dX15 has better paint apps on the faces and the chest/neck area
  • I like the shirt more on the DX15 but they’re fairly comparable. The Ultimate Unison shirt is better than both.
  • Guns-better in the DX06
  • Cutless are pretty much equal
  • Pants are similar just slightly different colors. For movie accuracy the DX15 pants are untucked and not cinched at the calf closure but you can do that yourself if you wish to
  • Sashes are pretty much equal but neither as as accurate as the Ultimate unison
  • Facesculpts - obviously subjective but I think the DX15’s have the stronger likeness and better texturing/detailing and paintwork. I really don’t see Johnny Depp at all in the DX06 smirking sculpt and have never understood why folks like that one.
  • Black Pearl in bottle- DX06 has a nice aqua/teal tint to it whereas the DX15 is pretty clear which I don’t like
  • Rum bottle-DX06 looks a bit more matte and worn vs DX15 which has a bit of shine
  • Remaining accessories I would say are pretty much equal
