But the people that run things at Disney aren't too concerned with putting out stuff that will flop and cost the company money. The messeage is what's important. And doubling down on putting it out there probably makes them feel like they're fighting the good fight.
Ummm...a multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate that doesn't care about profit and wants to 'fight the good fight'?? In what timeline?

I agree that their Star Wars content is mostly trash but I can't imagine attributing any kind of idealism to a corporation like them.

"When they are in power"
Their words not mine
Seems you are the one now trying to play semantics with what they said. :lol
I didn't mean to imply that you were playing semantics with what she said but rather to suggest that she may have simply chosen the wrong word to describe the Jedi's position in society/the Republic. She seems more interested in how they got to that position, although how she's going to tell that story in a limited series where the episodes are less than 30 minutes is beyond me lol...

This exactly. The idea that Disney is somehow altruistic for the sake of some greater "agenda" is beyond naive. They'd pivot their messaging on a dime if it made them loads of cash. They're simply focused on where they believe they can make the most money at present. Maybe they're wrong, maybe they're right...but it's purely a business decision as opposed to anything moralistic.

Disney is learning the hard way and pivoting way too slow away from their disastrous agenda driving machine that cost them a ton of money and i’m not even convinced that they’re pivoting at all.

They are kicking the corner of a table with their bare feet then screaming in pain and then looking at their bare feet and kicking the same table corner again even though their franchise core fans are desperately trying to stop them from hurting themselves they just ignore the advise and low box office returns and they just keep the self mutilation going.

Hasbro are wanting people to pre-order the figures already! As if! I'll look for them on clearance for parts fodder.
It's not Hasbro so much as Disney. Disney tells them what to pre-order and when. I would know, as I got laid off from Hasbro in December.

They're basically required by contract to support certain titles and participate in specific franchise marketing events. There's no way around it other than bailing on the license completely. Their freedom to make what they want (or what YOU want) is extremely limited.

Thanks for the insight.

I truly enjoy Star Wars, as a child from the 70's who really craved anything Star Wars for much of the 80 and 90's I'm truly, truly happy that we are getting new Star Wars content these days. Is all of it good, no. Is it entertaining yes and no. But sometimes I wonder, after the 3 original films and maybe the prequels, was there really that much story left to tell? If you look all the new shows, other than maybe the Acolyte, the stories all connect to the original story and films some way or another or expand on them. I'm not trying to be negative, only trying to initiate a conversation, has Star Wars run it's course, are we getting blood from a stone at this point? Are we getting too much Star Wars? It's like Back to the Future, can you really create a franchise of shows from that story?

Star Wars is an entire universe of potential stories to tell with established history spanning thousands of years. The issue is that Disney (and modern Hollywood in general) lack creativity whilst also at the same time having egos too strong to allow them to directly adapt any of the successful and well received books or games such as KOTOR that would give them exactly what is needed. They prefer to recycle parts of old ideas (like Heir to the Empire) while removing the best parts, insert their own crappy ideas, OC's and ideological messaging into it then plop it out. They hover close to the OT as it was the most beloved of Lucas era material because they lack the creativity to truly expand beyond it. Andor was good, Rogue One was OK and Solo was acceptable but their attempts to enter a new era with the sequel trilogy was about as successful as my attempt to hold in a fart after a night of booze, a chicken vindaloo and a dodgy street side kebab: It can only end in failure, leaving a hard to wash out stain on what was once our favorite pair of jeans. The Acolyte looks like it will be adding expired truck stop Sushi to the mix. I say let it run until there is nothing left to ruin then let someone else reboot the franchise from scratch.

In the meantime, Andor season 2 may be a great high quality Kobe Beef steak meal. Amazing, but it won't do anything to stop the already running puddle in the franchise's pants. You can't unsoil those pants Disney, best you can do is to remove all your crap "content" from canon and start fresh with a new pair of jeans, and stay away from those dodgy kebabs and truck stop sushi. it ain't worth it.

Yeah honestly everything after the OT has felt pretty superfluous to me, as they try to fill in blanks that didn't need to be filled or try in vain to recapture that magic. I suppose the prequels come closest to feeling like a story worth telling, but of course the execution was horrendous.

And sure there are other stories you can tell in the vast SW universe, but not many that would have the epic stakes of the OT, with a battle between the Empire and Rebellion for control of the galaxy.
