The director should’ve just accepted the speech in his native language with a translator like he did in all of his interviews during the press tour and just said thank you in english.Oh was it, lol. Him handing over the Godzilla collectible for the oscar was funny though.
It wasn't that bad, I would be scared s***less trying to give a speech in another language personally. Regardless, an awesome moment for the franchise.
Looking forward to seeing miles of Japanese names listed in the SFX credits in the coming years.

Believe me when I tell you…how they handled their acceptance for the FIRST and probably last Oscar in TOHO history is already a huge insult in their corporate culture over there.
The Japanese just don’t do that.
They may have botched the acceptance speech but their choice of matching footwear won the night:
So amazing to see a franchise I have loved for almost my entire life, 37 years, get this type of recognition. This movie deserves even more.

I think when your heart is in a project, it shows. Yeah, I know there are other factors at play .ie money and time. You can tell a little more effort was put in. I'm not completely in love with Godzilla Minus One, but damn some of those visuals were beautiful and scary.

Disney has a process that's extremely inefficient because they value speed and the ability to make changes long down the production which means they waste a ton of money on logistics.
With Godzilla Minus One, the director was also the VFX supervisor over a single team. As someone who had worked in VFX he knew what he wanted and he could communicate that immediately with his artists and didn't waste so much time and money.

Nailed it! It shows with projects like this and The Creator, that if the director/producer has a background, or at least a good understanding of VFX, there’s more bang for buck.
Good on them for getting the award. There were some amazing effects. It really felt like there was a full scale creature chasing their boat.
