Hot Toys Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) - Spider-Man: No Way Home

Honestly they need to put more love into the very stuff that put them in buissness. Without raimi Spider-Man or xmen 2000 you would t have the mcu or the superhero movie boom. Raimi Spider-Man needs as much respect and way more than iron man. I don’t care .

If anything at all I imagine just centering the webbing.

They should just literally do a Spider-Man 2 spidey. It would do numbers. But nah let’s do another joker. I love joker but … yea.
I mean it’s not like Spider-Man 2 isn’t the best live action spidey film or anything

They have 12 months to solicit a Spider-Man 2 20th anniversary figure. We can dream...

They'll do another version of MCU spidey or Spider-Man 2 (PS5) over any other rami Spidey. They picked Spider-Man 3 black suit sure but they need to give us a SM2 version and a Doc Ock from that with a better sculpt.

you know I didn't think about the fact it's the 20th.... man I feel old. Now they do 20th stuff a lot like I mean ATTACK OF THE CLONES got a load of stuff including rat tail anakin. Let alone arguably one of the most popular comic book movies ever should get one.

Actually I have a theory.... what if Doc ock and Tobias dead eyes over here were intentionally lacking. Not TERRIBLE, they're good but it doesn't satisfy THE need. You know a chrome mando, armoury batman thing. They did spider armour mark 4 and let that come out then immediately announced classic suit for the game.

Also the new black suit tobey, that head is..... something else. Especially because young tobey is very smooth which is why women are harder often because they have softer features yet they nailed it. This guy though has loads of wrinkling and surface detail which especially hot toys is perfect at. Their older characters are often in their best heads. As an artist I struggle illustrating likenesses but back when he passed so five years ago I did a tribute to stan lee and it was way easier due to the age.

What I'm saying is why on earth would they struggle here?? especially because the proto was so good. Every aspect of this figure could be improved

1: the suit being all fabric
2: the whole body
3: both heads despite being fine before

It’s beyond saving. They ruined this figure (and Garfield) when they made the decision to make the connection at the neck without a way to make it look seamless.

Guaranteed HT half-a$$Ed this because they thought everyone would buy it for nostalgia's sake. But I mean.....

...that neck??? And his mask looks like his face was kicked in. Honestly, I see no difference between this....

And yet the figure still sold out and ppl still buy it, HTs know this too. If we want to stand up and let them know it's not acceptable, we should stop buying their products.

I just cannot agree with you or the guy in the video. You pay premium for these figures. You can't really accept sloppy work when it is apparent. The head shape is off, the alignment of the mask features are off, the colours are off, the bloody connection of the neck is jarring, why is there a giant seam on the top of the mask...

I suppose I always believed that I have a keen eye for details.

A new batch? It is too late. I cancelled mine and saved money.

I'm crossing my fingers for a SM2 version or a SM3 version at least (since they have the license).

Actually, in that case, they shoulder make a Blade 2.0, with a better likeness, moving eyes etc. He came before the movies you mentioned.

He did. ANd they should but if we are talking about the superhero movie boom of the early 00s to the 10s then Spiderman and XMEN started it. Since 2002 there hasn't been asummer without a superhero movie since 2020 thanks to covid.
When Blade came out people didn't really like comic book movies and Back in the day people didn't know Blade was marvel. well the GA didn't

I remember they didn't put the Marvel label on Blade until Blade Trinity came out.

So the general sense I'm getting is that people aren't happy with how this turned out, huh?

yup. They were going to make Black Panther but couldn't do it at the time cause comic movies just didn't sell

Yeah it wasn't until Iron man started the MCU, before that comic films started to get more traction after that. Of course Nolan's Batman trilogy would start to put grounded comic movies into the light which wasn't done even when we had characters that had grounded universes like V for Vendetta or more dark comic worlds like Hellboy. We had a few misses like Fantastic Four and it's sequel.

Yeah to hell with this - I'm cancelling mine too, future prices be damned. Also, don't forget the actual head sculpt as well. It is one of the most "dead" looking head sculpt I've seen from Hot Toys. Tobey looks like he's got the thousand-yard stare.

Seeing as how Hot Toys decided to do the black suit form SM3 out of the blue, I'm gonna pray that they "redo" this suit from any of the Raimi trilogy films. WITH A GOOD HEADSCULPT FFS
