Re: Saruman the White
I just think for the money (because he won't be cheap, let's face it) things like that should be correct. A wizards beard is a big part of his character after all, and with it being attached to his face it's not like you can cover it up like you could with WK's wonky legs...
Re: Saruman the White
Yeah it stands out a mile off. Being such a prominent feature of his face it should really be perfect.
Saruman's beard is as straight as his hair, not full of curls and waves.
He did have a rounded Santa beard in some scenes though, maybe those scenes were the ones copied by the sculptor. I prefer the more raggedy and tapered version personally, but it's a great sculpt overall.
Re: Saruman the White
Yeah, maybe something like this just with a less manic expression.
Also this looks great so far, however they have given him Gandalf's beard (wavy) instead of Saruman's beard (straight). Hope they fix that.
JH e-mailed me last week saying they will sell a gold plated tungsten carbide ring (same as Weta but no inscription) but it hasn't been updated on their website yet.
The cost is $150NZ (approx $122US / £77GBP).
It looks really nice. I couldn't find any plated ones on their website so I didn't think they made them. Or was it specially made for you? I've e-mailed them anyway for a price.
Edit: Just got a response about the ring..,
"Thank you for your email. Due to the relative impermanence of standard...
I have 8....and one of them is a bit dodgy. Will keep going!
OK, got an answer for all 11. A few guesses involved and probably a few wrong answers but it was really fun anyway. Thanks!
It's very nice but I like the plain rings without the script better for some reason. I wonder if they would ever do a plain one? I don't know if the demand would be there, it seems more people like the script around the sides. I know about the JH plain ones but they are a fortune, being real...
In this photo you can see that even though Thorin is standing at the front, he is a good bit taller than most of the other dwarves. I think if it was the Balin or Bombur statue beside GTG in the above photo then the scale issue would be fine. I guess Thorin is just a tall dwarf!
So do you think that Weta's GTG will look like a giant beside the SSW pieces? I was hoping the new Weta statues would blend in with the SSW pieces but I guess they won't?
Looks great and fits right in with the SSW pieces, I'm so pleased Weta decided to go with the map base and keep everything tied in and neat. I sold most of my SSW collection over the past few years but seeing the new Hobbit statues is making me want to pick them up again.
That pumpkin is amazing! :clap
Received my Bats today, first ever Batman figure and first ever Hot Toys figure so as you can imagine with all the reports of damage I was really concerned. Even more so because I am in the UK and the thoughts of the hassle involved if there was a problem was...
