Looks like the ToysTV guys have the same type of spot on the figure they unboxed. Awesome!

Great, now I'm going to worry all week about mine coming with a stain. Nothing ruins an unboxing more than a potential known issue.

Damn straight. I've been anticipating the Royal Guard more than any other Star Wars figures besides Luke Jedi & Empire Fett. It was my favorite 'trooper' as a kid. And I fear a replacement will have a spot as well. I can see it now; "Spot-free Royal Guard for only $399.99".

Hopefully Sideshow will start inspecting the figures if the issue becomes widespread.

I've asked my retailer to inspect mine before shipping. As you say, nothing worse than getting a figure with a potentially known issue.

What retailer provides that service?

Rebellions might be built on hope, but not SS QC.

Isn't this Hot Toys QC? I don't know how HT would handle a massive replacement. SS sent out non-stained replacement Huntress capes, so maybe it would be a similar situation. This is one of those things that can't be unseen, especially if you have two or more. I really hope this is not going to be an issue throughout the entire run.

I really hope these stains are not something constant. They are very visible on the red robes. I will definitely ask my retailer to open up my figures before shipping and look closely.

I asked BBTS to check a figure in the past and they refused saying that their return/exchange policy would take care of any problems. Luckily the figure was fine. I just don’t wanna deal with the hassle of returning/repacking and all that.
In this case I’m gonna request AE to take a peek on mine before shipping and hopefully they will... Also hope this is a small isolated issue with the staining.

Timewalker was willing to check my Star-Lord for neck stains before they sent it, but not sure who else does that kind of thing.

If all else fails though, a little red pastel might be enough to hide this spot given that it's faded. Still sucks that it's right in front like that though.

Murphy's law: If there will be a stain, it will be at the place where it can be seen best.

Maybe we should plaster pics of the stain on HT's Facebook, if it becomes an issue. Especially if replacements aren't allowed. I'm not taking an appearance allowance on this.
