Hot Toys - DX16 / DX17 - The Phantom Menace - Darth Maul and Sith Speeder

The speeder is very good and hard to pass. But most of the figures are very good and when one enters the mindset that this or that edition is unpassable it ends up collecting everything. With such amount of good figures, it is easy to lose direction. I began with the intention of Vader and a Stormtrooper. Now, I have a few more figures and considering Dooku and Emperor. So, I'll brake my desire and won't lose focus. I am going for DX16, probably.

The speeder is well made for sure, and I get the appeal of the complete Maul set, but I'd be curious in the future how many people display him on the bike vs off with the bike as a background prop. For me, it'd spend the majority of it's life as a prop, which is why the Hasbro one is sufficient for me.

I doubt I'll ever even try him out on that bike.

Definitely a background prop for me. But that speeder has always appealed to me. Like I said, best speeder of the PT.

And it will "balance" my OT's display of the eventual Scout trooper and Speeder bike (the other best speeder in the SW universe).

It's definitely cool and a unique design for sure. I have it in 3 3/4" scale and 1/6 scale, at one point even had it in Lego form.

I’m definitely posing him flipping off the bike right off the bat Will he ever ride it? Probably briefly as Maul deserves action poses more than anything else, but I’d rather have the bike as back drop with the option to use than no bike at all.

If I were to get this, I’d definitely pose him with the double bladed saber. Speeder would never see the light of day. I’d be willing to bet though that speeder will fetch a pretty penny on the secondary market, due to people getting the DX16 then deciding after all they want the speeder.

Oh no, some expression in a sculpt. Don't like it? Don't pose with it. It's good for bringing to life other poses then standing around.

Close minded people, that's all I see. Only wanting stuff JUST in the movie but lack of imagination for other scenes.

It's sad.

So because people dont like something you like, that makes them close minded? Perhaps you’re the one being close minded for not understanding another point of view? Regardless of the expression, the likeness really just isnt there.

I dont like the sculpt, and I embrace all things EU. Love the comics, games, animated shows, etc..

Agree on the speeders. I’ve always had an affinity for them. My most loved speeders are:
Maul Sith Speeder

Speeder Bike

Anakin swoop bike from AOTC(Lars family)

Cad Bane’s speeder from Clone Wars

Dooku’s bike is a close 5th.

Definitely. Once both sets sell out I see the release with the Speeder being more desirable. Still though speaking for myself all I need is the standard release. I'd never use the Speeder. Its just not a very iconic vehicle for me and Maul would look better posed up in a cool stance with his saber in my opinion.
