Lol the prequels especially episode 3 is and forever will be more memorable than anything the ST has to offer. Say anything you want but no one but a handful of fans will know who rey is but will always quote lines from Obi-Wan and anakin’s final battle

I presume you're referring mainly to the Anakin-Padme courtship sequence? Yes it was cringeworthy by modern "hip lingo" standards, but it was also timeless by Shakespearean opera standards, and that was what Lucas was going for.

I agree the ST is overall better acted and directed, but some of the "humor" makes me cringe, and some of the dialogue is *too* specific to our time and will quickly become anachronistic.

The ST is going for an OT vibe, and that's OK because that's what most people probably want. But the PT was going for a regal, political, diplomatic vibe because that was where the galaxy was at the time, and it also helped differentiate it as a mythical era before the OT.

The courtship/romance scenes certainly do have the most cringe-inducing dialogue. But there's plenty to go around throughout all three movies.

And the dialogue is only timeless in that people will be laughing at "UNLIMITED . . . POWER!!" and "NNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!" and "I hate sand . . ." and “I’m haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me” for a period of time that will have no end.

I agree with you about some of the humor in TLJ, though. Poorly placed, ill-suited, and tone-deaf more often than I cared for. It's even worse for me because it stands out more amidst other moments where the timing and tone were appropriate and effective. The humor in the prequels is consistently slapstick and immature, so it doesn't stand out to me as unfortunate because it's just one in a sea of problems on those occasions where I've forced myself to watch them.

Oh, definitely. I'll always quote "Don’t try it, Anakin . . . I have the high ground.” for the rest of my life. Because of how hilariously stupid it is.

Lol what quotes were even in the ST? All I remember rey saying is she’s no one. Which is true. I don’t remember anything remotely memorable about those movies whatsoever.
You wanna talk stupid.
That rose quote was cringy as anything in the Pt. Something about we fight ones we love or whatever

Rose is the new Jar Jar, and L3 is the new Rose.

Comparing Rose to Jar Jar is like comparing Green Milk to PooDoo.

All seriousness, if you watch the PT and make Palps’s the center of the story, its a great story.....just skip over most of Anakins stuff in TPM, dont watch AOTC at all, and ignore the love story....

Oh and forget all the Gungan stuff....

Then its a great series.

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....

Yes, the Rose quote was awful. Congratulations.

So, you want to suggest that because you don't remember any quotes from TLJ, then that makes the dialogue worse since there's quotes everyone remembers from the prequels . . . because they're hilariously ridiculous? Okay.

And, not that you'll ever agree, but here are some quotes that struck me from TLJ for actually being constructed with a modicum of intellect, and carried some weight within the interactions they were spoken in:

Luke: "No one's ever really gone."
And you're telling me that no one has repeated this? Luke: “Impressive. Every word in that sentence was wrong.”

Leia: "She was more interested in protecting the light than seeming like a hero."

Snoke: "As long as he lives, hope lives." (especially how he delivered it.) Hell, every line Snoke delivered! Like, "You have too much of your father's heart in you, young Solo." And "You are no Vader. You're just a child . . . in a mask."

Rey: "Something inside me has always been there, but now it's awake." This one because it's relevant to the entire Rey plot in the ST.

Again, I know you won't agree. But now, will you please give me some great quotes from the prequels?

Lol chill
And those are very bland.

Lol while hilarious and silly these quotes are way better.

Hello there

Once more the sith will rule the galaxy

Is it possible to learn this power? Not from a Jedi.

I hate sand

I killed the women and the children. I slaughtered them like animals.

Only a sith deals in absolutes

You will try

If your not with me then your my enemy

Unlimited power!!!!!!

Then you are lost!

You were the chosen one!

I hate you!!!

At last we will have revenge on the Jedi at last we will have revenge.

I am the senate!

Something happening . I’m not the Jedi I should be.

You were my brother anakin I loved you

So no matter how silly or hilarious ,these quotes are all more memorable then any thing recent. Sorry but it’s the truth. I don’t think these new movies have anything to quote unless you paid close attention. Even if these lines were delivered rather poorly they still last. I don’t see anyone quoting rey or any of those lines you mentioned. Just making fun of how awful that rose line was.

And nope we can’t agree. It’s a shame . I would love to like these movies and I don’t see them being bad as a big deal. If you like them I don’t care I won’t chabge your mind. It is what it is. I think this whole thing is blown way out of proportion. Every franchise has its ups and downs. Every bad movie has a fan base. So it’s completely understandable tat you see something we don’t see. It’s whats makes us all human. So while we may not agree I completely understand why you like the movies and find things you find memorable. I just can’t like many others but that’s ok

But now, will you please give me some great quotes from the prequels?

Oooooo, icky icky goo!

You can't stop the change, any more than you can stop the suns from setting.

Always two there are, no more, no less.

I don't like sand.

His/their fate will be the same as ours.

So this is how liberty dies, to thunderous applause.

Once again the Sith will rule... and there will be peace.

Nooooooooooooo!

Well ironwez20 and Prime Clone, those lines are certainly . . . memorable. You got me there.

And, Prime, thank you for including "Oooooo, icky icky goo!" That was both awesome and evil of you. :lol

Lol they are both hilarious and stupid but they are great quotes . Meme material

My personal favorite quotes:

Its time for the Jedi to end.

Let the past die, Kill it if you have too.....

And when I kill you,I will have killed the last Jedi...
Amazing, every word of what you just said is wrong....

Permission to hop in a x-wing and blow something up? Permission granted...

Young Skywalker, still looking to the horizon.

They Blow you up today, maybe you blow them up tomorrow....its just business.

And from TFA

The junk will do.....

Its true , all of it.

Thats not how the force works....

Kill them all....

Great list, xipotec! The exchange that ended with "That's not how the force works!" was one of my favorite moments from TFA. Great delivery! I miss Ford's Han. :(

No problemo :duff I may be a prequel apologist but I'm also a realist.

I caught TLJ for the third time recently and it still holds up well, if not as a second-parter. But I noticed that, based on Rey's dialogue it was common knowledge that Vader was redeemed at the end. So either Kylo has chosen to ignore this, or Snoke has convinced him it was just a weak moment.

I sense an appearance by Ghost Anakin in IX to set him straight.

Also, looks like we may never find out how Luke's saber and Vader's helmet were recovered - unless there's a standalone Maz flick!

Not sure about the dialogue but that's at least the nicest illustration I've seen from the comics.
I would guess that it's based on the Sideshow figure. Either the artist has it or uses the images to work off of -- they used the SS Deluxe ROTJ Vader pretty much exclusively in that comic series.

I will give ROTS props for giving us possibly the most fun line to say in the entire Saga: "Do it." And of course you always have to say it exactly like Palpatine did, lol.

Single best line since the OT easily goes to "Chewie, we're home."

Thanks TFA and TLJ for giving us Hobo Luke.....flying Leia.....dead beat Dad Han Solo .....Rose fricking Tica...Stuttering Stanley...hey...bbbbb big guy....Poe “get you all killed” Dameron, Knock off Boba Fett, Fin “the janitor”, and Mary Sue.

What a excellent addition to the Star Wars universe. So memorable. It’s a modern art masterpiece.

By that I mean it’s a steaming pile.

Interesting. Nobody mentioned even a single line from "great and amazing" Rogue One.
