Well, now they better release Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive sans weapons. :)

Don’t mind the spears, but was hoping for something more exciting. Will be weird posing Cap and Widow with the weapons when there are no villains to display.

On the bright side, for people that did order the promo, they did secure an IW Cap before it sells out even if the extra accessories won’t be displayed.

Figured it would be the spear and glaive but there was absolutely no need to blur it... Maybe A4 Cap is the one to get but I'll wait to see what trailers look like.

I sort of doubt the Black Order would sell very well if made. As much as some want figures like that from the perspective of Hot Toys it probably doesn’t make sense.

They may have if they were announced before the movie. But every day after the movie release secondary characters become less attractive to buyers due to hype-slowdown. At least that's how I feel.

Eh but really think about it. Would you really spend $250 or so probably a piece for any of them? I mean the designs are okay but let’s be honest none of them are overly memorable. I’m sure Hot Toys knows the majority of collectors feel that way.

True, maybe that's more of the reason why after the fact I'm not really that interested.

I think it’s just hard to justify making figures that essentially would be considered peg warmers if they were retail releases when it comes to making high end collectibles. When only a handful of people will really buy them it’s probably just not worth it.

It's too bad it's not as feasible to do some characters as build-a-figures. We already get a helmet or a weapon here or there. If they could figure out a way to distribute the rest of the figure it would be pretty cool

They should have included the villains in a second backdrop for Thanos if they didn’t plan to release the figures.

I don’t know why some people act as though because things are shown that it’s like an obligation for them to make figures. Until something is put up officially for pre-order you’re not owed anything. Some things are just one offs.

I don't think anybody thinks they're "owed" a figure, but certainly when new characters are on display it generates interest. If that's not the goal then why display them at all?

Keep in mind some people decide whether to buy in on a line depending on whether the line is complete too. Something like infinity war the odds were never great we'd get everybody. Too many characters and especially in the case of villains...Well we know hot toys m.o.

Some people collect that way sure. I highly doubt that’s the vast majority though. As far as showing things off sometimes it’s simply just for purposes of a display but isn’t actually practical to mass produce either because something is too large/complex or won’t sell and will lose more money than it will make.

I think a bunch of people kind of knew Hot Toys won’t be releasing all figures that were displayed at shows especially villains based on their track record, but the fans in us are always hoping to expand our collections. Some prototypes look good enough for releases and those only make people want them even more.

Yeah, collecting based on getting a full line is kinda dumb anyways since you can still collect the full line of what’s put out and where do you cut off what one person considers a full lineup versus another person’s idea of that?

Oh absolutely on the business side some pieces just don't make sense to produce, but I can definitely see why people would feel let down to see something tease and never release. Especially, since Hot toys isn't terribly transparent about these things. Something like the giant Ant Man for civil war...Yeah obvious that wasn't going to release, but take Crossbones for example small role, but some what well liked villain fairly simple figure to make, but nothing.

I actually would have bought Crossbones but I can see why he wasn’t made.

To each their own imo. I don't collect that way, but I can see why for instance some people like the lead hero vs lead villain in a shelf. Or something like justice league where people want the whole team or none at all. There's subjective ways to draw the "complete collection" line, but certainly i wouldn't fault people for thinking the justice league would be made in its entirety.
