ANH is still the best to me, but it needs the Rogue One gloves. RO cape and belt are added bonuses.

I just received the new body suit from the Tarkin two pack from TA. I just replaced the one from the original ANH and it looks much better along with the RO gloves. It's not as bulky and the cod piece falls into right spot.

Good to know. The newer body suit is clearly slimmer and less padded. Especially on the forearms, allowing the gloves to fit better.

Did you get all 3 new parts? Or just the "shirt" portion?

Also, for those like me, who want to see detailed pictures of comparing the 2 HT ANH Vaders (Original & Tarkin 2pk), this guys pictures on his Flickr accountant are awesome. He actually shows lot's of great closeups of the differences of all 3 HT Vaders so far (ANH, RO, ANH v2). He has lot's of great albums with lots of detailed and fun photos, so worth the time to go to his main album list and check them out....

Did you get all 3 new parts? Or just the "shirt" portion?

I got all three, the pants aren't as baggy and the sleeves are tighter and just short enough that the RO gloves fit perfectly.

I can't really say one is better than the other when stock. They both have parts and qualities that I think are better than the other. An amalgamation of both would make for an ideal ANH Vader.

Exactly. Mine is an amalgamation of all three ANH Vaders.

Boots - ANH v1 (v2 Vader's are better but I don't have)

Gloves - RO
Bodysuit - ANH v1 - but I think I have to get the v2 suit now after seeing the 2 side-by-side

Ah very nice!

Mine is just the stock v1 ANH, mostly because the pose I have him in doesn't really necessitate needing to change the parts that need upgrading because they're kind of concealed anyway. I have him in the pose when he was holding his lightsaber horizontally, when Obi-Wan first encountered him on the DS. His hands are concealed by his cape so you don't see the gloves anyway, and the cape drapes over 1/4 of the belt boxes. I've never had the R1 cape in hand so I haven't actually seen the difference between it and the v1 ANH cape, but I never really had any quibbles with the v1 ANH cape.

I don’t have my V2 Vader yet, but your list for the most part is what I probably will shoot for. Although I might use the V2 HS instead. What makes the RO cape and robe better than the ANH versions?

I have no idea, haven't built this out yet, but I like the material better -- its darker and richer and doesn't have stitch-lines along the edge of the cape.

I forgot, I also got (thru a friend's help) the v2 Vader LED saber hand. So I can finally ignite my saber with the proper gloves.

But the wrong lightsaber hilt!!

Oh yeah...oh well... I've never been good with the hilts so much. Not sure I'll notice. It's just nice to have for the once or twice I would ever light him up.

The problem is they gave RO Vader & the Tarkin ANH v2 Vader the hilt from ESB, not ANH. Can't blame them with the RO since Disney screwed up and it's film accurate, but why they gave the Tarkin Vader the wrong hilt makes no sense since the 1st release was correct.



Since I own the MR full size ANH Vader lightsaber hilt, & the .45 scale ESB hilt it would bother me. Just like if/when HT releases a ROTJ Vader & again give him either the 1st ANH version hilt, or the RO v2 ANH hilt... rather than a proper ROTJ hilt.

Can't thank you both enough for sharing that link. The Vader comparison pics are incredibly helpful. It's far easier to spot all of the differences when the figures are side by side. Picking out the best parts from the HT offerings to make the most accurate ANH Vader is still an unfortunate necessity. And I think the Sideshow ROTJ Vader suit and codpiece should be thrown into the mix.

I could have sworn that the 2-Pack Vader was going to have the RO boots, but I'm glad to see that they just added straps to the version 1 boots instead. I'd like to have seen HT make the shin armor a little shinier this time around, though. And I'm still not sure if film Vader's boots had that flat part in front (on the sole), but I'm assuming they must have since HT chose not to stick the v1 armor on the RO boots. Anyone know for sure?

Those comparisons are great. My Vader is now:

ANH V2:
- Boots (seem to be identical with the straps added)

RO:
- Gloves
- Cape
- Belt + Belt Boxes

ANH V1:
- Everything else

At this point I'm not sure I would upgrade anything else based on the available parts from these three figures. He looks pretty awesome to me now -- the boot straps were just an added little bonus as I liked them on the Rogue One figure (but they didn't fit ANH) and liked the results from the ANH customizers who added them.
