No staining on mine and I'm in the US (Cali). Shipped from BBTS. But, mine was packed with the plastic head wrap pulled down inside the jacket collar.
Sounds like they may have updated the packing method already.

Maybe. Or just dumb luck. I'm leaning toward the latter given all of the reports of the staining issue with figures received around the same time as I received mine. Either way, I'll take it.

Nah, no way the packing was updated in the couple days from when I got my super stained figure from BBTS and when he got his from BBTS. They would all be from the same batch at the moment.

When they were shipped to the US there was two containers, one on top exposed to the sun and the bottom nice and cool :lol

I reached out to Sideshow about a week ago regarding the staining on the neck. I received the following response through email:

"So unfortunately, this is the result of all of the pieces within the edition that we received from Hot Toys, so a replacement will not resolve the red markings. They all have the same red coloring on his neck.
If you would like to return the piece, we can definitely offer you a full no-cost refund of your order."

I definitely appreciate the no-cost replacement offer, but I am not certain I am willing to send back the figure if there is no replacement option available.
If they could provide a timeline in the near future for when new stock would be available without the staining, I would likely move forward with the refund option.

The staining on mine is fairly bad, but it is only on one side and I do plan on displaying him with the coat most of the time. On the other hand, it is a lot of money to spend on something that is not perfect, and if I ever wanted to display him without the coat in the future it is not going to look good. I reached back out to see if they had any idea if a new revision was being worked on before making my decision.

Good luck to anyone receiving their figure in the coming days!

Best thing to do is ask if you could abide by that sort of thing like you did. If the staining is that bad on yours, which it sounds like, I would advise you to send it back and re-roll on your purchase if they won't/can't honor a replacement from a potential future shipment.

Send it back! This will send them a message not to take their customers for granted and for fools.

Yes, we may be addicted to the plastic HT produces, but we're not gonna settle for inferior quality. Once the returns begin to pile up SS and HT will realize how badly they f'd this one up. :pfft:

I haven’t heard anything about this being a split shipment so what they have is what they have. There likely will not be another batch. Besides, SSCs has a small amount of replacement stock and they all apparently have the issue. They state that all their figures have the issue but what they really are saying is all their replacement stock has the issue. They won’t go opening saleable stock looking for one with no defect. They’d just end up with a bunch of open “used” stock.

Best thing you could do is accept the return and re-roll the dice and reorder. With any luck, you’ll get one with no stain or at least less staining. Of course you could crap out and get one that’s worse :huh

Regarding the updated packaging:

Sideshow told me my replacement was sent out after "inspection for quality concerns." Now mine had a snapped knee joint but I wonder if they're trying to do damage control and place a barrier for the neck issue. One would think that the damage is done due to the extensive time it was already in the packaging and this might be a fool's errand (or way to CYA).

I just shipped mine back to BBTS for an exchange. We’ll see what happens.

Maybe it’s just coincidence, but it seems like most people posting that they have little to no staining on their figures are collectors located outside the U.S. Possible they cooked a bit in the shipping containers on the way to Sideshow?

This could be true, because the staining on mine is very small and mine was shipped straight from Hong Kong (which Sideshow sometimes do with Australian orders, after their US customers have started receiving their batches).

Mine is extremely minor and if you honestly didn't look for it, you wouldn't know. I just pulled the head covering over the neck and bunched it up until I really sit down and pose him up.

This is now available from Popcultcha, has anyone received from them and had significant red paint issue? Desperately keen to order with many RP.

Got mine directly from HK like 1 week after release and NO staining at all!! [emoji16] maybe I jus got lucky

My staining was minor and it came from SSCs...probably just the luck of the draw. Gonna coat my collar with a light varnish.

I'd be interested to see how you did that Lee, and if it works well. I have some Pledge varnish. Perhaps I could use that to seal the coat collar so colour does not seep out ? Any pics showing how you applied it (as you do it) would be great.

LOVE this figure! One of Hot Toys best all around figures.
I was lucky in regards to the marks on the neck and broken accessories.

Curious what the though’s are on using the “helmet in activating mode” accessory for an extended period of time.

I haven’t used mine as of yet but contemplating displaying the figure with it since it looks awesome with it. Had there been any reports of of paint rub to the head sculpt when using this accessory yet? I would imagine not enough time has past to really determine if this would potentially be an issue.

Though I was curious if that had been seen on other figures with a similar accessory such as maybe A1 Loki.

For me, I used the helmet activating mode for this picture and used it in display for about 5 days. Then, I thought as you did. If I was lucky enough to get a product with no issues, leaving this on for an extended period of time could push my luck. I've decided to play it safe and keep it off.

I would be interested as well to hear from collector's who have kept the piece on a long time and see if there's any effects from it.
