Sideshow preorders for Threezero, Star Ace, Asmus, etc... are usually delayed a week or two. My understanding is SS, along with all retailers, place their orders around 30 days after preorders go up. That way the retailers can base their orders on actual preorder demand. It's still a guessing game for the retailers to decide how many to order beyond the preorder demand. You can usually find out the day retailer orders are due with the manufacturer by looking at Timewalker Toys "Please try to preorder by..." date. I believe after that date, the world supply for that figure becomes relatively fixed.

Exactly. Pre-orders are used to gauge interest of a figure. That is why NRD have become commonplace. They help insure a customer follows thru with a pre-order purchase. Most aren't likely to cancel with money already vested in the item. ThreeZero is still a relatively small company so they use the pre-orders on their site to actually fund the production run, which is why they require you to pay in full. They'll use the numbers from their website and the numbers given to them from their distributers to set the edition. ThreeZero doesn't put up excess stock on their site, so they are likely made to order precisely. They likely don't round up much beyond what is ordered. Probably just a few for replacement purposes.

Since there is no exclusive item on Ayra, the only thing you would get from ordering from ThreeZero directly that you wouldn't from any other retailer is the T-shirt. They do ship first and shipping is included in the purchase price. So between the bonus shirt and free shipping, you don't save much, if anything , ordering elsewhere.

That's valid if:
a) You purchase in countries where the price is the same than Threezero offers. FYI, in my country, purchasing from SS or other retailer based in US or Europe implies a nice chunk on import taxes and shipping. Hong Kong or China based retailers skip those taxes.
b) You purchase more or less in the same date than Threezero releases the figure. After that, price may vary.

So in my case, I'll preorder in TZ, I'll be sure the price is the lowest possible, and I'll get a super cool T-shirt! Also, if there's an exclusive item, I'll get it too, but looks like this won't be the case with Arya.

Does SS charge for shipping? And is their price usually a bit higher? I'm trying to decide who to pre-order from between TZ and SS. I have paypal credit which does 6 months interest free for $100 so I'd be able to spread out the payments from TZ so it would essentially work out the same as SS payment plan I believe.

Sideshow does charge for shipping - it cost $15 for Daenerys to NY. She was $169, I think from SS.

The benefit of Sideshow is not having to worry about customs, which is why I’m stil hesitating to PO from TZ.

I got hit with a $68 customs fee a few years back for a package from Australia with $150 worth of stuff and it’s always made me at least hesitate when ordering internationally.

I keep almost preordering the figure then hesitating for that reason, haha.

I went with ThreeZero. I've gotten all of the others from them and haven't had any issues so I might as well continue with that trend. T-shirts are always nice to have too.

ORDERED.

Whatever, I bit the bullet and ordered from Threezero. Arya is my absolute favorite character in the books and on the show, and I named my rabbit after her, so this figure was not a question.

I love Sideshow, but I know this is one figure I'll get impatient for and want in my hands the second it's available. I'm excited but not champing at the bit for Hoth Leia and Daenerys, and I'm getting twitchy seeing people getting them already since I ordered through Sideshow. Not having Arya ASAP would be hard, haha!

Daenerys ships this Thursday from Sideshow...my bank account is definitely going to be angry at me for spending this much on Game of Thrones in less than a week...:ohbfrank:

Haha, I'm in the same boat. I also preordered Hoth Leia and Daenerys and still waiting for Dany, let alone Leia, who won't be here until March. And my bank account would be hurting hard this month if I didn't sell a lot of Black Series and Figuarts to fund my purchase of the Hound, the HeroClub Iron Throne, and Arya. Now I need to recover before I get my final payment on Leia.

Where did you find a Throne? Those have been long sold out and I never see one come up anywhere for sale.

I have ordered everyone since Ned direct from ThreeZero. I regretted missing Ice and have just gone straight with them even if Ghost and the Dragons look dumb. I do like the Hound's helmet even if I have it next to him. Too bad Jamie and now Arya don't have exclusives. The shirt is cool but will end up being for my wife since XL is the biggest they run.

$178 is a joke! isn't that what dany cost with 3 dragons? this is a tiny figure with ZERO accessories and a lesser character at that.

they should take a hint from asmus, hobbits go for around $100, that what she should be priced at, $120 max if there were more accessories.

this is the first in the line I am not buying (unless it ends up $120 or less somewhere)

Not gonna lie, I will probably get her if I can squeeze her into the budget. I need more GOT figures. My Danerys just shipped so I want to see if I like her more than other people have before I commit. So much cool stuff coming out.

$178 is too expensive, I'm surprised I haven't heard more comments on that. But I certainly wouldn't think of Arya as a lesser character. She's one of the main characters really.

I mentioned this before but I don't know if anyone saw it. Do you remember how threezero treated their first two releases in regards to the fans/customers? They shared a picture of only the Tyrion sculpt and got some criticism, so they took it down and the next time we saw the figure it had a tweaked, better, sculpt. Next, Ned went up, and again criticisms were made, so they took it down and repainted the prototype which was certainly better. Initially it looked like they were open to constructive criticism, and was going to have a more open relationship with the fans/customers. I remember being excited about that. What happened.....

Yeah, $180 seems high for such a small figure, but there may be a couple of reasons that factor into that. I don't have any behind-the-curtain info, but I have some guesses.

I'm not saying she SHOULD cost this much, only tossing out some ideas on why they decided to price her at this level.

For instance, they had to engineer a body specifically for her. Unless they're planning on doing several versions of Arya (which, at 3Z's pace seems "unlikely" to put it kindly), this is a single-use body that they had to develop specifically for one character. There have to be costs associated with that. (With Asmus, they could repurpose the hobbit bodies for at least five different characters.) I don't remember how much they charged for Tyrion (another single-use body) when he came out, but it was also several years ago and prices have been steadily (and alarmingly) rising in this damn hobby. Plus, he was the first figure in the line so maybe they were willing to take a loss (or smaller profits) in order to get collectors excited for the launch?

Secondly, we don't know how much of a license fee HBO gets (since it's a newer and arguably more popular license than LOTR, they may get a bigger bite than WB takes from Asmus).

The hair doesn't help either. Personally, I would have preferred sculpted hair on this one, but the rooted hair has to add a few bucks to the sticker price. (There's a $25 difference between Asmus' sculpted and rooted Boromir figures.)

Anyhow, those are just my idle, and completely uninformed guesses. Which is what discussion boards are for! :duff

This looks like the worst GOT figure they have put out. Leave likeness to Hot Toys and the hair? Whats up with the horribly inaccurate hair? And they can't spell Coming soon. Lol
