Not feelin the sculpt myself, but I am glad Hot toys are giving us another chance at a Star Wars Stormtrooper and cool display.

The jnix gets too much praise. It's a nice sculpt but not a huge improvement over the HT if at all. I see a lot of Hasselhoff in it. The exception I have seen is the one TonTon has that was painted by silentsurfer. That one looks pretty bang on.

The Jnix is extremely difficult to photograph but in person it is miles better than the HT ANH Han. Jnix sculpt is superior in every way and proper paint does tend to make these heads shine the extra mile. So if you get one with a lackluster paint app it will look comparable vs HT stock head.

The Jnix sculpt is awesome. The only people that say otherwise are those that don't own one!!! :pfft:

Why would I spend $200+ for a sculpt I don't think is particularly great? I could just as easily argue people who are that invested in a head sculpt feel obligated to defend it.

I have seen a ton of pictures of it including side by sides. I won't post any here because I don't want to specifically insult any member. But sometimes I see a lot of Hasselhoff, in others I see a sort of "slow" Ford stunt double. But to be fair I have seen good shots as well. If you like it, good for you that you own it.

I didn't think that highly of the Jnix sculpt either but I got on board for their 2nd run just to see what everyone was raving about. I figured I could easily sell it and get my money back so no loss. Even when I received it and took it out of the package I wasn't thrilled with it.

Once I put it on the Solo body with the outfit I was surprised how much it improved. I always thought the "looks better in-hand" was a bunch of malarkey but this is significantly better in hand than photos can capture for some reason... I don't understand it.

I'm not saying it's a perfect Ford likeness and I think it would be much improved with a SilentSurfer repaint (like most sculpts) but it is far better than I expected.

Anyway, I'm excited to get this sculpt to see how it compares.

:duff I will allow that the 'ol cliche that is "looks much better in hand" is sometimes actually true.

Not to wade too much further into this, but I do agree that the original Jnix paint app can photograph poorly--the initial paint job on some/many folks' version was a bit shiny and I know some users like Matrix improved it by toning it down with some dullcote. I felt the sculpt/paint sometimes suffered in natural light as well, but under the detolf lights with a little shadow from the brow I thought it looked phenomenal.

Under scrutiny of a macro lens the Jnix paint doesn't hold up as well as a Hot Toys paint app, that's for sure, but from a foot away or across the room it just reads as Ford to me--I picked up his ESB sculpt which wasn't as strong as the ANH and recently picked up his Indy sculpts as well.

The Jnix paint apps do vary between the different versions he came out with (ANH, ANH V2, ESB), I currently have a second ANH Jnix Han sculpt waiting for the Han Stormie figure--it has a bit of that shiny gloss to it but since I'm pairing it with the sweaty Luke I think it'll work well.
