So what's the difference between a toy, an action figure and a doll? The same as a graphic novel and comic book? .

Nothing.

At the end of the day, its all dolls or comics.

As collectors we use sub names for items to separate the types of markets they're aimed at, and that's cool, but why laugh at a dude who buys a Barbie when you buy the exact same type of product, except its a male figure and comes with a gun?.........they're ALL plastic articulated toys with mixed media clothes/hair, the only people that genuinely believe they are actually different are deluding themselves. Show them to any non-collector in the street and they will all call them dolls, that's what they are.

I can totally understand that people may not like the common aesthetic of what a "Barbie" looks like, long soft hair, a dress, ect......that's fine, visually its not what they're into, but the mocking or laughing of those products when you have a whole collection of pretty much the same thing just marketed differently makes you look like a bit of an idiot imo. You're not fooling anybody but yourself, and the desperation to hold onto your masculinity is kinda pathetic.

Takes more balls to admit what they are than to pretend like you're "above it".

I'm still tempted to order this, but every time I try something tells me to stop.

It's not really conveying the character of Harley. Maybe just too specific, and too smiley. Not quite wicked enough.

However, this smiley sculpt could work better with a jester outfit.

The sculpt looks somewhat better after I saw the side-by-side comparison pics to actual screen captures. However, the first time I saw the head sculpt, it looked like one of the pictures where people use the app to create a smile on things like Hot Toys.

I'll just leave this here then for you Kuat ;) Do not, I repeat, do not push this button:

Pre-order Harley Quinn (Dancer Dress Version)

Yea that's not a $220 figure. It's basically a body and a short dress.

The similar skimpy outfit and light accessory Phicen Vampirella and Lady Deaths are around $150 for comparison.

Re: 1/6th scale Harley Quinn (Dancer Dress Version)

There's no Robin because he's not actually in any of the new films. If you want a Robin, hope that they get around to the Arkham games version. Same with Batgirl.
What are you talking about? Robin is slated to be in The Batman, and there is LITERALLY a Batgirl film being made??

This whole post is pure truth. :lecture :exactly:

Especially non-collectors seeing all of them as dolls, as well as collectors mocking or laughing at other types of dolls or doll collectors like they don't collect dolls themselves - insecurity at its finest.

Oh Wow! The headsculpt looks great right there.
Sometimes, Hot Toys doesnt do themselves favors when they do their professional official photos.

Its supposed to be the opposite. Some products look better on official pics, but not so great on a non-proffessional settings.
Hot Toys on the other hand, their non-professional pictures often times look better.

O.K This kinda bugs me look how good the hair is. They could have easily did this real hair with ponytail look,oh well.:gah::lol

Actually, it could sell far better than the Purple Coat Joker, who actually is still sitting in-stock most places. That headsculpt is pretty bad on an already controversial redesign. So, that's my assumption as to why. The other Jokers have sold fairly well.

Why come into a thread for a figure you won't like anyway, from a movie you already hate? Go live your life and don't crap all over everyone else's parade. If I had time to waltz into threads for figures I couldn't care less about, like some of you do... well, I'd probably still spend it doing something else instead, lol.

Because it's a free country and I do have interest in all figures released...

Who made you God of Sunshine for all things D.C. related?

Where does it say we only have to post positive feedback on a release? If it says that somewhere....half this forum would need to disappear .....(maybe more than half)

And THAT doll, figure, whatever you wannna call it, looked amazing. The body was 80% of the reason to make that character.... phicen, TLB league what ever you wanna call them knocked it our of the park.

Right now that Vampirella has the strongest shelf presence in my display.

I guess you can chalk the cost up to copywrights if that helps lol. If this was a knock off it would be like 130 shipped as its barebone's. I miss the old days with extra hs and little extras of love they use to give us.

It's true, they/we PAY for the license of an authentic and detailed head sculpt of.........

I get that to pay for the great art of the hs and talent of amazing paint work compared to knock off's hs. Im all for paying for paying for quality to enjoy but think this is 200 at best for this release. I almost prefer the knock off if wanted this release. I'll buy the headsculpt and dress seperate for a phicen bash.

I agree. Cat Toys made an amazing Knock-off of Harley.

I'll never understand the distaste for "doll hair." When it's done right, it almost always looks better than sculpted hair and is way more functional. I could understand if it's half laziness of not wanting to futz or fiddle with getting it just right.

I own a lot of dolls and happily futz with their hair when needed. But none of them are based on people from film or real life, so there isn't a likeness to worry about.

The issue with a figure like this is, is the hair going to be styled right, as in like how it was in the film? Often, it isn't. Then you paid full price to have to restyle the hair yourself. Or maybe it has a ton of styling gunk on it, then you have to first get that off and then do the work. Molded hair: right first time every time.

The sight of the hair plugs going into the scalp really breaks immersion. its not a dealbreaker, but I don't like it. YMMV.

Have not heard that in the slightest. Not going to hold my breath. Besides, until the movie is not long for release, Hot Toys won't unveil anything anyway. :lol

There's a Batgirl film? Neat. I hadn't heard that either, but if so, I'm definitely behind that.

Can't wait to get her! Looks good so far. The knees look way better on this version that I'm almost wondering if Hot Toys will attempt a second try at their first Harley (with even more improved aesthetics), like they do with so many of their popular figures.

Sure, it's a free internet. But when half the internet is nothing but bitching and moaning and whiny trolls, you can't help but get sick of seeing all the **** eventually. And I'm certainly at that age where my tolerance for incessant whining is at an all-time low.

The world is so negative now that I'm surprised it hasn't shortened lifespans. :lol

Anyway, there is a difference in criticism and ****canning something just because. Lots of people are coming in here simply doing the latter.
