I've been all in on fully sculpted hair since day 1 but I know the majority of people kept saying it wouldn't work in 1/2 scale which I'm still not sure if entirely true. But my worries with non-sculpted hair is exactly in that picture...frizzy, can be difficult to place in the best position, looks different statue to statue, just too many variables.

Personally, I think even the 1:4 scale PF fails to keep Gadot's hair from looking like solid block. The hair placement here is one of things I see as having improved from the proto, where it sat too far forward and was too thick at the top. Frizz aside (which shouldn't be an issue compared to the Hot Toy because the rooted hair at this size actually has enough weight to sit naturally) I see this as workable, whereas the prototype placement killed the likeness regardless of whether the presenters bothered to comb the hair or just toss the head on the statue as-is.

At this point, with variables like this and translucent resin skin, I always expect bad photos to surface initially. Same thing happened with Batman, Superman and Joker. The good ones (like these) so far have since cancelled any doubt I had about the quality of those pieces, so I'm hoping that's the case here.

Good to know. Could be a bad, quick pic alright, but still needs some work to give the buyer's money's worth. I personally see more Gal Gadot in this new sculpt compared to the original prototype, but it looks like a Gal who's been up and working for 48 hours straight :)

EDIT: Link says the post was already removed from the Fb Group page. Could be to prevent people from further hating on it. Some comments were just harsh and offending instead of funny when I saw it earlier.

Well, I guess we are all going to have to learn how to style hair. It will be a first for me.

I only hope they didn't really did the bored look, like the Batman that looked so tired... (didn't check for Joker)

Well the Joker has the worst expression out of all of Primes 1/2 scales, its the number one thing people complain about on the whole statue.

Spot-on comparison. All of the P1's 1:2 scale have bored expressions, which just happen to fit Affleck and the Ledger (at least during the fundraiser scene when he's coldly holding the knife up to Rachel.) I actually appreciate P1 softening Superman's expression from the promo image they based the statue on, as it makes him look more inspired than stern, which I consider more fitting of the "definitive" Superman we should expect at this scale.

I agree with you on Superman but the expression on the Joker is just plain bad and lifeless, IMO it doesn't resemble that scene u described as it doesn't look like he is looking at Rachel, he just looks spaced out and not looking at anything.

People complained about the roundness of original portrait compared to Gadot's sharp features in BVS; but I think, whether it's because she put on weight between films from pregnancy or training, it ended up being accurate to her facial structure in the solo feature.

The problem was not the sharpness of the face per se, it was just the wrong shape as it was too oval. No matter how puffy Gals face looks, her face will never have an oval shape, because an oval face requires that the forehead is wider than the jaw. Since her jawline is wider than her forehead, she can never have an oval face, but her jawline can look less defined and smoother with a rounder appearance depending on the fatness of her face.

That said, the teaser of the reworked head was just about perfect, IMO.

Yeah everything looked spot on, the jawline, face shape and most importantly the core likeness of her face with the thick lips. However, it wasn't a full blown portrait as they pretty much only showed us half the face, which was slightly turned to the right.

Unfortunately I don't think that that's just the photo.

I just viewed a video on Prime 1 Studio statues (some expo) that was recently uploaded on YouTube, and as said the video look on Wonder Woman didn't look much different from the above photo......:gah:

It definitely looks like her issue is looks like she just had massive weekend and hasn't slept in a couple of days. Couldn't they make her smile or have that confident cheeky smirk or smile?

You're probably thinking of the Paris expo. That was the old head sculpt. I don't know how final the sculpt on these newer pics is, but it's definitely different.

And yeah, she looks rather beatific / tired.

Don't believe so. Looks exactly like the previous photos. Just go on YouTube and search Prime 1 Studios and it'll be one of the most recent videos. Think it said Japan Expo which was held last week I believe.

It'd be easier if you told me whether the expo you're talking of was the one I linked to, or if you posted a link to the video you mention. ;-) I've just checked YouTube but I couldn't find anything other than the old sculpt.

OMG...she looks hideous in the video and that music makes me want to cut my wrists. I am now thinking of cancelling my preorder. Seriously, WTF.

The face likeliness is good just the wrong expression. I am not sure if i will go ahead with this statue i need it to complete my trinity 1:2 set so i am on the fence.

Well I feel lucky that I was never really considering getting this piece.

As people have said she 'currently' looks like she just woke up from a late night out.
