that is not his actual color, but that's how it looks in the dark with that flashing light device against a black wall, close to blue and white walls.
i immediately bought a second one.

could someone take a photo of the alien artfx near the neca's alien and ripley action figures?

with Neca.

Necas are standing on standart 1/6 stands which have approximately the same height as Koto stand.
all in all statue's legs are much shorter, body is thinner, and it is bent in a way Neca cannot. the figure is smaller all in all, but it doesn't look of a wrong scale in a crowd, as (i hope) i showed here. well, because i hope everybody agrees that it's Neca who has a scale mistake. it works well for aliens or for aliens put versus humans, but when a properly scaled alien or a Neca predator is put next to alien, the scale mistakes become seen (KPH in a suit is the same height or higher in case of P2 than BB in a suit).
heads have similar or almost similar length, i could measure them in millimeters if somebody wanted.

I removed the dome. Here is what nobody tells you. The dome has a very large pin that comes down from the front/center that attaches it to the head. If you'll notice, there is a small spray of silver in this area to hide it.

I rocked and pulled the dome very gently but something would not let it go. Now I know. Eventually, the pin broke but up at the top so I now have a perfect oval hole in the dome. It fills back up when I place the dome back on the skull but now there is the matter of filling the oval seam.

This means that it will never be truly clear in that area. :( I can't think of any other way you would be able to get the dome off. That pin is gorilla glued into the skull.

i believe that somebody has already mentioned it with the same details, i just cannot find it so fast.
oh here it is:
the funny thing is there is a post that keeps the carapace on right at the apex of his skull, but you don't see it because it is obscured by fog in the dome...absolutely well designed...though I wouldn't have minded a removable carapace since historically the toys are made that way....

oh crap. so i definitely won't be the third to do it.

it seems that the legs are shorter but the body is longer, the proportions look different, and the artfx looks more accurate. if you imagine the neca bent like the artfx they would be the same height

I posted some side by side pics in the action figures thread.

To me it seems the entire figure is smaller, and actually more to scale with NECA's Ripley. But, looking at the proportions of the figure, I agree that the NECA alien has much longer legs. The head also seems to be thicker when viewed from the side, and not just in the jaw/neck area, but overall.

Saw this today st my LCS, it's nice but I can't bring myself to pay almost $100 for it.

So here it is without the dome. See the big, honkin' pin in his cranium?

As a quick experiment, I took literally two minutes and drybrushed the inside front of the dome with some cream colored paint. I kind of like it because to me a blind alien is more lethal. Lol!

The black around the edge bothers me it kind of 'V's in the front. I might try to strip it and start over. Here we see the circular hole that got created. I can just fill it in and airbrush silver or cream to conceal it. God I hate that pin.

Clutch I like how you fogged the dome. Hides the bad paint/sharpie under the dome.

I liked this so much I bought a couple more. I consider it a steal at the current price. Now I might PO the dog, but I don't like the variants as much as the OG big chap.

How did you get the dome off without cracking it? It's so small that I didn't even bother trying. Looks good, but I'm the opposite, I love the visible human skull on this guy, always have. It is what makes him so menacing and iconic for me. The can remove that pin fairly easily, just clip it off and use various grades of sand paper until it is smooth.

You should've drybrushed it from the outside and spray a glossy varnish on it. Way easier than removing the dome.

I was just messing around with it. I'm currently sanding off the paint on the outside and have stripped the inside. It will be less black around the edge.

I was apprehensive about buying this since the scale is so small but frankly, I'm glad I did. The detail is amazing (the joints aren't as great as they could be...kinda obvious) and the paint is crisp and clean. Very nice texture on the surface carapace...legs and arms. Really cool! Worth it!

Koto: do this on a 1:4 scale please!! I'd buy the crap out of that over the nonsense sideshow has been putting out.

I grabbed one of these off amazon also looks like an amazing figure.

Something to replace my kenner alien that got tossed in the garbage by my grandmother that thought it was satanic.
