I FINALLY placed my pre-order for Daenerys. I haven't pre-ordered a figure from them in awhile since John Snow. The pop up link for access to my Paypal account was different than the one I'd seen before. I was able to change the option to Paypal credit. In fact, I think their check out system has improved since my last transaction with them.

Now comes the LONG wait for her arrival.

Thanks for the update. So just click the "place order" button on the second step where you fill out your info and address and it redirects you to PayPal? Sweet. I'll do that tomorrow.

The real risk of up front PO is that the manufacturer or retailer goes out of business before the figure is released. In that case dont plan on getting your money back.

I used to PO at Cornerstore Comics. I stopped because I found a place closer but then Cornerstore went under. Their FB had a few messgaes about ppl complaining that emails and calls werent returned, wheres my money, that sort of thing.

There's something to be said about placing with SSC because i see them as the least likely retailer to fold while my PO is pending. Thats why i went with them for Hulkbuster.

Last i heard 3zero are selling pretty well as a company, so no idea why they would go under within the next year.

This is why I don't pay in full for preorders anymore. I lost about $400 on a HT Catwoman and Soldier Story preorder I had at Viking Playground when they went under. Twice that if you consider I then had to pay again to get the figures elsewhere. It really sucked because they were a good retailer, until they weren't anymore.

Full Disclosure: I did preorder the Hound exclusive from ThreeZero.

Even if you think the company's doing well theres really no way to know for sure unless theyre providing finacial statements or disclosures or something like that. And thats not going to happen. It's not like the retailer/manufacturer is going to tell you their complete, honest financial outlook.

So it's a risk carried by the consumer. This is another reason i dont PO as much as i used to. I did PO the ex of this from 3Z.

If there wasn't an exclusive, I try not to pre-order from any company wanting a deposit let alone full price. I always order from SSCs when possible. NOt that they are immune to total collapse but they aren't some mom and pop retail shop like say Corner Store was...

Well its not like you guys dont have othe options, BBTS dont ask for money up front and theres paypal payment plans too. Its really not this complicated thing, just pick which suits best.

Yeah, bbts is really the best way to avoid this risk.

But they don't have exclusives and they don't always heave to cheapest price either.

Yes SSC is Sideshow Collectibles :D

Also welcome :wave

If you're in the US, Sideshow and BBTS are probably the best, but I've heard good things about Timewalker Toys, but I'm sure theres a few more places too

Alter ego, fanboy collectibles.

Also check out hobby Galaxy, Cotswold collectibles, ekia hobbies.

As discuss each has its own PO policy and pricing. I've ordered from all w/o issue. But you have to find the best fit for you. Also consider the location of each retailer as it effects shipping.

Thanks a lot for the advice guys. Very appreciated. I will check them all out.

Not a GoT fan, so I don't have much interest in this figure, but it looks great, especially for the price.

Can't wait to read the first post release pic freak outs. The Durden thread was a fun read.:rotfl

Some places the ex sits for long while. Like the qmx trek figures- theyve been out for months but you can still get the ex. I would think it varies from company to company and project to project. My suggestion would be to get the ex if thats what you want. If you miss it, you'll be on ebay paying $40 for ea dragon and $15 for the stand. But choices and decisions vary.
