I would love this expression.

I hope. I would love for someone to take on Terminator again and improve on some of the things HT's have been criticised for, as good as they are all around, and because that was before my time in 1/6 collecting.

They may do some other movies, but at this point they have been prevented from getting anything related to T1, even statues. Paul did say something a number of months ago that gave just a tiny glimmer of hope though. I don't see Hot Toys giving up their death grip on the 1/6 figure line even if they never plan on doing another figure. We'll see.

I really hope the face tweaks make a huge difference, I want to have a great Conan figure and I really like the body they've made but the face just looks so strange to me

I think the issue with the face is that they used the digital files they received to do the young Arnold in Terminator Genisys. It has that deadpan look so some tweaking is necessary. I'm a huge Arnie fan. Although they did a really good job recreating Arnold from T1 in that movie, given stills from T1 and Genisys, I have no problem picking out the CGI. There is something off about the eyes........and the forehead/hairline isn't quite right. The CGI is definitely "Terminator" just not quite "Arnold" which imo hurts in translation to other characters. Real Arnold upper right in top photo. You can pretty much see where that regular Conan look comes from in the lower picture.

Rjszar you have hit the nail on the head my friend...those eyes, they're so inhuman and creepy/alien looking. If the head sculpt can be fixed this will be a real winner

Yeah, I don't know what it is. You can compare the eyes all day and they seem to be the same on a minute scale, but you can clearly see the difference. They are almost blank and lifeless. Are they just imperceptibly too small? Another shot.

They said they were redoing the sculpt. When the pics first came out everyone was psyched. Then the criticsm started. And the the only real complaint was that Conan looked bored. No hunger in his eyes. Expressionless. To me he looked like he was waiting for the bus. But they said changes are coming.

I know, it's not their fault. The CGI files just didn't do the trick. Even Pop Culture Shock, who shared the same files for their Conan statues, had to scrap them and start fresh.
These pics drive me nuts. He looked good in some scenes, and in others....well.

Yeah I think the eyes are too small on the cgi model and the head sculpt. I am psyched for a Conan figure and hopefully this is the one..there's lots to love, I'm looking forward to seeing what tweaks they make. Hopefully at nycc

I think something like that should be the default expression for just about any Arnie figure but no one ever does it except NECA on their Jungle Extraction Dutch or maybe Sideshow on one or two PFs.

Very ****ty likeness, I'll not buy the figure if this is the final head sculpt.

There's probably a lot right about it that the likes of Hot Toys gets wrong time and again so I wouldn't go so far as to call it ****ty but certainly the eyes need redoing.

Overall these look good... I'll be curious what the expression adjustment is, since that's my only serious complaint. Conan just looks a bit dead behind the eyes; a bit of intensity or character to the sculpt would push it up another level.

wait. does licensing works this way?
is the license to make 1/6 figures sold to only one participant, not to anybody who is willing to pay?

sleepy eyes with distinguished lids look like Dwayne Johnson on upper left image. but only in that light.
that's actually a great terminator face - an afterdeath mask instead of an alive face.
i think the eyelids and the paint are the only problem here (paint is very plain, leading to fake image), otherwise it's the best sculpting attempt of 1/6 young Schwarzenegger so far.

It's a great Terminator face because it is a Terminator face. As I said previously, they used the CGI files from young Arnold in Genisys.

I don't know about every licensing agreement, but usually you get exclusivity in an area for a certain type of product, ie. 1/6 articulated figure or 1/4 statue. One that sticks out as an exception is the Star Wars line. For instance, Sideshow and Hot Toys both produce 1/6 figures.

nature used elements from stars but created joseph tsang. :)
what i meant is that the face is so dead that it's impossible to play by an actor without tons of makeup. it didn't look so dead both in original and in crapysis.

so it's still unknown who's to blame for no normal 1/6 aliens, predators and terminators: greedy HT or lazy other parts who just don't want to compete.
i'd like to know who to hate

Hot Toys are pretty well known for paying for exclusive licenses to ensure no other 1/6 manufacturer can get in on the party.
At one point Enterbay figured out that Hot Toys was only signing exclusives for 1/6 scale and got around that by signing for and producing 1/4 scale articulated figures. That's how we got their 1/4 HD line that included Terminator, Batman, Rambo, etc...
Hot Toys has since locked that down as well and have made sure to sign deals that gives them exclusive rights on all scales for high end articulated figures.

I'd say you can guess with 90% certainty its Hot Toys locking down the articulate figure licenses in the properties you are referring to.

So that's the reason EB stopped putting out anything but basketball figures (besides the latest Bruce lee or an ip man)
