NECA: Alien Movie Franchise Figures

I'd be interested to know if there's anyone that's buying these Kenner figures who didn't have the originals themselves, when they first came out?

-If yes then what's your appeal?

-I'd thought a large part being played here is nostalgia, without that... well let's not go there...


Anyone that had the original Kenner figures and are not interested in buying Neca's version?

-if so why?

-nowadays there's a wide range of Aliens merch, so no longer interested in this stuff?


As a collector and completionist myself I really wanted to like these Kenner figures from NECA, but as I didn't have the original's I have no nostalgia for them and these figures just don't seem like they fit in an alien's collection. I'd just rather not have to explain every time someone sees the collection why I have a bunch of Xeno mutated zoo animals sitting on my shelf.

Now granted as someone else said these look way better than they have any right to, so I can sort of understand why someone who didn't even have the originals would want this for a little variation. but ultimately in my opinion these just look ...off?

These will be the first figures I won't have loose / on display but I'll get a set to keep sealed - that's probably just the completionist in me talking

...I liked the first photo of Mantis, but note that I've seen all three I think they look to exaggerated, losing all the elegance the movie designs have. When I was a kid I might have been tempted to get zoo aliens because there was nothing else, now I have a lot of faithfully reproduced figures, so it will be easy to just watch the parade go by while I wait the next series. Haven't done that in a while

This guy. Never had any of the original toys. I'm just a fan of cool looking monster designs and the fact that Xenos take on characteristics of their prey is a cool concept. I won't be getting the different colored standard Xenos though. Funny thing is I'm a much bigger Predator fan but I only have the 1st Jungle hunter. I'm all in on these kenner Aliens. Even the upcoming one with the long tongue.

I don't understand. Why there are two sized queen facehuggers?

One appears to be a repaint of the Alien3 Super-Facehugger, and the other is a tribute to the Kenner Queen Facehugger.
Both bear the same color scheme though, but I am planning to get the larger one to go with the possible 1/4th scale Dog alien.

I had the originals back in the day, though nostalgia only plays a small part of why I love these. I really like the universe that James Cameron created, but it's done. He already made it. It exists. What I loved about this line as a kid (and do even now) is that it took that world and completely expanded it into something great, something fantastical. It was like Dark Horse Comics veered off course into new territory. I mean, most of the marines are now alive (In the Kenner 'verse) and exploring new and unknown worlds with these wild and crazy mutations of Aliens. It was something fresh and allowed Kenner to showcase some pretty great alternative Alien designs. (And some pretty awful ones later on... )

So I'm all over this line like a cheap suit.

I had the originals. I'm not sold on these. I may get them once they are out after I see them and possibly have a moment of weakness, but I am not excited to own them and I won't be preordering.

Like the Kenner preds, I do enjoy seeing them. Quite fun to see the more realistic updates, just no desire to own.

I'll resist them. I've already been bold the past couple of days buying stuff I wasn't previously planning on. And ordering even just the Gorilla Alien could lead to a completist need for all of them plus the Predator ones. If I was going that far then why the hell wouldn't I buy the AvP stuff. A small fortune in backdated stuff let alone all that's yet to come.

After studying the pics of the Albino drone, it looks like the figure is actually cast in the light pink plastic, then painted over with the white paint, and then given a wash to bring out the detail.

I used to own all of them, right now I only have Panther Alien, the AvP pack with the comic, which is still ****ing awesome.

The Warrior Predator which I believe is the first one that Kenner released, and one red Alien of the same line.

I kept those for their retro/nostalgia value, the new homages do nothing for me... They're very cool to look at though.

I’m not completely sure but the yellow AvP:R Warrior could be a K Series repaint.

Somebody pointed out on twitter that the red/pink alien was the Konami Alien in their display and Randy confirmed it with “Good eye”

Saves me some money. These are well made figures, but I have no interest in anything not from the movies. Glad for those who want them though. Man Vasquez looks great!!!!!

He looks quite good I have to say. The pink hues really make him stand out and that tongue piece just adds that extra ick factor lol

Well two out of three aint bad as they say so I ending up pre ordering one set over at bbts. Love the mantis and gorilla but surprisingly lukewarm on the royal facehugger variant. Maybe it will look better in hand but idk what to think about it. Although I will say seeing the smaller versions now make me excited for the Alien 3 creature pack

Except that Konami Alien looks to have a smooth dome, not a ridged one. I'm not sure why Randy has always wanted to use the existing Warrior sculpt for it.

Nah, you'll give in and be consumed like the rest of 'em. Your Terminator starved butt probably won't get John Connor until 2017 and it'll probably be a mego SDCC exclusive. Then you'll be drawn to these instead.

The K series alien is throwing me off too because they could use an aliens warrior for that. My other guess would be an Aliens vs. Predator (PC) Gold Edition boxed figure.

Edit: They have a blue Facehugger similar to the one that came with the Gorilla hidden behind Ripley too. There is a green Hugger but I can’t remember if the Mantis came with one (They have green huggers in the Konami game). The ones I remember are the Blue (Gorilla) Red (Bull) and Brown (Scorpion)

Today someone asked if Newt would go on sale online after SDCC and Randy said ''not likely''. So does that rule out the so called plan B? What other form will it take? Were international collectors always gonna be ***t out of luck?

It could be that I was so desperate to see John Connor at this show that when I didn't see him I felt a need to compensate by ordering other stuff from the show. So you may not be wrong there.

I can't believe NECA didn't plan to sell Newt online or at Toys R Us during the show like they did last year. That's ****ed. The Toys R Us deal went so well and was a good idea, I don't get it.

This is what I don't understand. What changed all of a sudden? Another year I probably wouldn't have cared because the exclusive would just be a cloaked Predator or some cheap repaint. How ****ing typical that they make something I care about and now it's total uncertainty for some reason.

Really hope if they do John Connor, it isn't some BS like this. Make him a two pack with a T-800 available at retail/online (Toys R Us, BBTS, etc. etc.) or something. No exclusives.

I can't fathom why a T-800 and John 2 pack wouldn't be a viable mass retail option, I just can't.

It'll be ****ed if John is a SDCC 2017 exclusive. If it were me running things, I'd make it a mass retail and Toys R Us exclusive 2-pack like they did with the Hicks/Alien and Hudson/Alien 2 packs.

John Connor (with back pack, computer and endo arm/display case) and a Steel Mill T-800 with articulated legs. Don't even have to have a swappable damaged arm or full damaged head. BAM, done. Don't see how that wouldn't sell.
