Not to be a downer, but here are some thoughts about this figure. First, my left shoulder was broke straight out. Only reason I know is when I went to shorten the neck the arm fell off when I removed the torso skin. It looks like the peg was partly glued while assembling the torso or they tried to glue it back on at the factory or the plastic is crumbling. None of those are good news. I am trying to repair it but I may not be able to. I hate returns. From what I can see the head can't be lowered with removing the peg. Looks to me that the head will need to be widened. Mine was opened but it I think it was opened before shipping. There are clearly two tape jobs inside and out, but they are the same tape. Even have the same yellowing on the outside box tape. Paint job is decent, but there is a little rub on the end of mine's nose. Also the overall color isn't warm. Its more of cool brown/grey than flesh.
More later.

Thanks for your thoughts, robbie. Sorry you got a bum Indy too.

That must be how my arm is broken too. It feels jiggly but it still stays in place. Now I'm really glad I went ahead and submitted a request. It must be all messed up on the inside.

And, A-HA! yours was open too, huh? Mine was too and you're right--had the same kind of tape the second time. I wonder why they've been doing that? Was your shipping box damaged at all?

And seeing the Indy and Han side by side really shows you how good the Indy came out! I see your point about the flesh tones. It's funny because Han has been criticized for being too tan, and Indy's even darker!

I just went ahead and submitted a request. Maybe if there is enough, it can help others.
My box was fine. It had a few dings but nothing big. I think the head size is pretty good just needs a shorter neck and correct hat.

That SSC head looks pretty small there - especially because I seem to recall a few people saying the HT Han head was a little on the small side. Boy, I'd love to see this new TOD head next to the German Indy or the KOTCS Indy heads - which border on 1/5 scale.

It is interesting that even though the SSC apps are really improving nicely overall, it does seem Indy still has a bit of that greyish brown that SSC Hoth Han has - it is almost a slight brown/purple, kind of a "corpse" color really. HT in comparison has more of a light pink/orange which seems more natural, and is also lighter in tone.

I think it was the SSC Hoth Han that was criticized for being too tan, not the HT Han - if that's what you meant.

Because Indy's griimy and sunburnt it's much less of an issue than it was with the Hoth figs.

Here's a quick shot with head lowered on neck. Removed neck plug, put head back on.

:lecture

Good idea.

Just did it to mine.

Pulled the barbell and plug out from inside the neck so that the neck becomes flexible enough to push the head down further.

I think it made a difference.

Yes, I think you're right. But I think Han also got some criticism for it as well. And right again, it doesn't bother me because it just gives the overall appearance of grime and such.

Looks great!

Looks really good. Nice work

Nice job, mattman!

Some terrific posing there, mattman! Bravo! :clap

Really nice!!!

Your work there is phenomenal there, mattman....takes an already great figure to a higher level. Bravo!

Excellent work on Indy :clap

Thanks guys!

Great pics and customising. What did you do with the shirt? Drybrush? Sponge app?
It looks really subtle, and nearly perfect.

Thanks a lot. I mostly used a drybrush with very little paint and gently brushed it along the shirt and pants, but for the more sweat looking area like the dark spot along his right side of the shirt I used a combo of water, matte varnish and a little dark brown paint and sort of dripped it on there with the brush.

Really interesting pic - thanks for setting that up.:clap

What's interesting is that the most realistic paint is the custom one in the middle. That's an amazing paint-up.

The SSC Indy TOD does look a little on the small side there, but it may be because it's between two sculpts that are (slightly) on the large side. Though even the two HT heads seem a little larger (and I'm always looking at HT heads feeling like they get smaller every year:lol.)

I agree about the TOD looking the smallest, but I really do feel that the TOD Indy is the best of the bunch! The custom in the middle is nice indeed, but I think the TOD one edges it out.

WOW! That's a fantastic comparison right there, thank you Robbie.

I still don't get the love for the Han Hoth.

The SS Indy and HT Han look about on par to me.

The clear winner is in the center -- that is an awesomely painted one BTW. Grail piece right there.
