I got mine yesterday...

Gonna twist the thumb tonight like what Darth did. Darth, thanks for the tip.

With the "Gang". I replaced my medicom version...

Next to be replace on my part will be Han, Luke and Lea from Hot Toys.

I'll preface this by saying, do at your own risk. At least now, you have a droid with 5 digits factory attached. If you aren't willing to break it and re-glue it, don't bother.

Sorry for the crappy pics. Hope it gives you an idea though. How much further can they go without snapping? Not sure. I'm content with this far. I was prepared to break them off if necessary, but I got what I wanted without having to, so I'm pretty stoked.

Wait, so what did you do if you didn't break them -- did you just twist them?

EDIT: Nevermind, just caught up. So the twisting work. Good to know. Shame it hurts the articulation.

I may go the cut-and-glue route just to see.

Yeah. Kamandi tried it with no luck, so I guess it's just a crap shoot. I'm hoping it works for somebody else just to affirm it.

Well, it kind of works. I broke the tip off one thumb and marred the paint... :gah:

I'd rather have a correctly positioned thumb and lose the mobility... oh well. Now I need a gold touch up marker or paint to fix the marring.

Mine came in today and is going right back. a piston on each arm is busted and the thing on top of his head is bent. Sent in a return order. We'll see how it goes. I was going to just do a refund since its a flaw in the design and I imagine will only happen again, but figured I'll give it a shot. Never returned anything before, so hopefully it goes smoothly. Sad, sad day.

Thankfully HT ANH Luke also came in today and its flawless! Just gotta decide how to pose him now. So many options!

Sorry to hear that, man. For what it's worth, I'm sure your experience will help somebody one way or another.

Holding comlink. It's tricky, but he can do it. No tape, 100% gravity.

Received C3-PO along with the quarter scale Iron Man Mark 43 today. Excited about Iron Man but have excitement plus nervousness regarding Threepio and the potential problems it may have. Fingers crossed.

I tried twisting the thumbs last night and mine definitely look better now but like Darth_IMPoors it made the thumb and the finger next to it a bit looser but nothing nearly as annoying as the thumbs looked to begin with. I actually just twisted them into place with my own fingers instead of using pliers. The right hand had a better result and looks perfectly normal but the left was a bit more stubborn but still looks better.

I wouldn't worry too much about crossing your fingers as much as I would worry about wonky thumbs :rotfl

I think that's a good suggestion. Try twisting with your fingers first before resorting to pliers... and have the super glue ready just in case :wink1:

Busted out the 91% alcohol to see it the weathering would come off like R2 - no luck. I tried rubbing away at some of the "oil" drips and no difference.

The more I compare the Tamashii and the Sideshow C-3PO's, the more it reminds me of the difference between the life size Don Post 3PO and the life size Sideshow 3PO. Each has their pros and cons, but much of it comes down to the finish.

Fantastic photo! Great to see the Sideshow lineup here for a change and the droids look great with the rest of the Sideshow figures too. Why change them to Hot Toys?

The Hot Toys is a much better head sculp and painting for Leia and Luke (IMHO). As for Han, I'm still 50/50 in replacing it with Hot Toys.
