1/6 Hot Toys - MMS 279 - Star Wars Episode IV: 1/6th scale Darth Vader

Seeing all these pictures it really is clear that the chest armor is too big - it extends down far too long and has a really weird shape. Would really love to see the HT with the Sideshow chest armor - not bells.

I got the hurricane chest plate for a new hope wonder how it would look on the ht vader. which I am going to get once it`s in the states some time this month

You think you're on the fence, but really you're just lining up your justifications. You've already bought it, all that remains to do is press the 'place order' button.

Here's how it's going to play out:

Pro- I really like the helmet

Con- I really hate the gloves

= helmet > gloves. Vader is all about the helmet. The helmet parted out would cost me about $120-130. The gloves will be an easy pick up if I have to.

Pro - I no longer think the LED saber is just a gimmick after getting Kenobi - It would be cool to have a Vader with one.

Con - I already have the SS Deluxe Vader I got over a year ago and I've always been fine with it. I don't like the helmet as much, but I don't hate it. I do hate the oversized light saber so I never pose him with it. I do love the gloves on the SS one.

= no way can I recreate a Vader/Kenobi sabre duel with one awesome sabre and one dud. And can my exacting standards be ok about just being 'fine' with SS Deluxe Vader? Mmmmno.

Pro - It would be cool to have HT Vader to "complete" (for me) the HT ANH collection of Luke, Han, Chewie, Ben, Leia, and Stormtoopers (regular and disguise versions)

Con - Getting Luke, Han, Chewie, Ben, Leia, and Stormtoopers (regular and disguise versions) are already costing me a LOT.

Sure it's a LOT. I am mad. But hey, I've come this far. Do I really want to spend that much money only to fall one figure short on not completing the HT ANH line? That'd be like paying for 90% of a Ferrari and passing on the wheels.

Pro - I'm finding a recent appreciation for ANH style Vader - especially the helmet

Con - The ESB version is still my favorite look over all.

Ah, remember that first time I watched Star Wars... that's history right there. *sigh

Bonus Con - I hate the gloves (yea, this gets mentioned twice)

The gloves are the only real reason to pass on this set. That's all I got. And if that's all that's keeping me from picking it up, that'd make me the type of picky that kind of annoys me a bit when I see it in other people. Am I that guy? NO I'M NOT DAMMIT. I'm NOT THAT PERSON! PLACE ORDER.

Yikes what's with that tight inner robe, makes it look like Vader squeezed his belt on in the dark

Think you were on the right track just maybe loosen the belt or lower the inner robe a little more and you might have this in the bag

We have some armor we recently bought from the SLD of the 501st (1:1 size and pretty spot on according to the SLD)we are looking to either scan and 3D print it or sculpt it in 1/6 from scratch . No pics of HT done and kaiyodo mix yet as I've haven't seen H

Yeah, the Hurricane chest is, as far as I know, just a copy of the Kaiyodo with some modding. Would be more interested in seeing the Sideshow armor on the HT than the Kaiyodo style.

I would recommend sculpting from scratch. Most, if not all fan armors are warped anyway.

Anyone care to try their hand at replicating this shot? This is the moment (just after checking out the dead troops, just before stomping off the set) that hooked me on Vader and Star Wars forever... Is the HT helm proportioned in such a way to get this angle? It looks a bit long in the back to get this right.

No RW points were used... I bit the bullet on him and paid full price. I have a strong suspicion that this is going to sell out fast along with ANH Luke. (Han and Chewie are now sold out everywhere.)

Yeah, the gloves suck but this Vader is 95 percent awesome!

The sound effects on mine are working fine now,just remember to turn the button on the back of vader to off straight after you've finished listening to JEJ dulcet tones. Don't wait for the 15min reset to kick in!

Does the sound function stay on if you use this method?

I don't think you can flex his neck that way. It's really limited in the neck area

I have a couple options with Vader, rewards from SS (though I'm convinced using enough rewards for a full free figure is the way to go and I only have about $100), pennies from PopCultcha, or waiting for a deal somewhere else (but just not seeing that as a possibility--as you said, Han and Chewie have sold out fast). Decisions....
