They're over-emphasizing the moles on his face - looks like he's got a skin disease... :(

Eye's looks crap but the rest of the figure looks fine to me.[/QUOTE]

Glad it comes packaged with the helmet on.....based on Woo's FB pics concerned about the durability of they helmet. Will likely pic it up once the price drops.

A little side-by-side I put together:

Sideshow are no longer using separate eyes, but it looks as though this is one figure that could have benefitted with them being larger - which is what I quite liked about the Hoth sculpts.

This must be from that time Mark Hamill auditioned for a role in Star Trek: The Motion Picture:

(Luckily his legs didn't suit the little white dress)

Are you guys REALLY that surprised given SS track record with human figures?

No. Would have been nice if they upped their game, but I'm not surprised they didn't.

This is not a bad product. It's just not the best it could be, and isn't priced accordingly. I don't think SSC quality will ever be on par with Hot Toys or other sixth scale companies in the market. And from a dollars and cents standpoint maybe it just doesn't need to be. This will sell out like everything else.

Figure looks good in those recent pics. Thanks for sharing those, Stealth. Still thinking I'll wait for some kind of discount before considering this one. Too much stuff right now.

Zombie eyes:monkey4 this is what happens when they paint the eyes straight ahead and they are not focused on a central point. Too much of the pupil is showing. The upper eyelid should meet the pupil, otherwise they look 'stunned'. Also theres almost no detail in the iris at all, its just solid color. Seems like paint technique has not progressed since 2005. The sculpt itself is ok, better than Hoth. Suit looks good. Wouldn't be so bothered if not for the price

conspiracy theory.....ask a ridiculous price which you will get some die hards to bite. deep discounts will follow making the price in the 190's and collectors think it's a bargain. boom your pieces sell out at the realistic, profitable selling point versus offering them at 190's then offering discounts. worst you get is collectors complaining about pricing but we have done that for years yet continue to buy as the price goes up :lol

I'd say it looks pretty good, except for the eyes! The eyes seem to be Sideshow's Achilles heel. They always seem to stumble on them. They look like they're bugging out a bit.

I agree. Overall a very good Luke - looks quite good - the eyes are a bit off, but with pics that are 3x larger than the actual item, these things might be blown out of proportion

If this was priced the same as the Hoth figures, I'd be very happy to buy one of these, but this might be a wait for a better discount than the $20 code deal.

Final product doesn't look awful to me, looks pretty good actually. I like him with the helmet on and dig how they implemented it with the hair pieces, much better than the T-1000 with his split open motorcycle helmet. This turned out okay.

He doesn't look $240 good though, seems outrageous. That's already been discussed ad nauseum though.

Yeah, for a lot less $$ I wouldn't have much issue with it. The sophistication of that head for 240+ is not realistic at all.
I think the helmet looks kinda weird as well though, too rounded or something, not an expert on ANH helmets but looks off to me.

I'm not feeling the sculpt at all. I definitely think it's the eyes that are throwing it off but it just looks disappointing. No way is this worth the $240 Sideshow is asking. Best way to salvage the figure is a replacement sculpt (if one of the new Hot Toys ones will fit) and probably a new body.

:goodpost: :exactly:

Looks better than their old figures, but absolutely not THAT MUCH better.

It looks like a slightly better painted Medicom sculpt.

Not bad but no where near worth the price for me.
