The merge has happened. Phew. Things might be a little confusing if you go back and read straight-through, but at least everything's in one place now.

Man, they look gorgeous in those new pics. Going to be hard to resist.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Episode VII - Snowtroopers Set

That arctic visor is fairly common for white-out, snow-blind situations, isn't it?

Surprised they even need "eyes" -- couldn't a VR HUD work without any goggles? Make them look like the Alien.

Yes...but a smart design has built-in redundancy. EMP, physical damage, power outage, glitch...all of these things would render a sensor-based helmet blind. Need a mundane, no-tech fallback.

So I really want to get this guy but I am so sick of the NRD at sideshow..

Question: If I preorder this guy at BBTS, will there be any chance or risk of them cancelling pre-orders in the future for whatever reason, like sideshow not meeting their order numbers etc. Has that ever happened? I wouldn't want to risk it so before I make the jump, just want to see if you all have had a good time with BBTS.

Thanks!

I think the snowtrooper looks odd with the pauldron, which works out great because I want the red pauldron for the stormtrooper.

Are you too broke to afford the NRD or you are one of those people who like to order then cancel?

It may be glued like it is on the Stormtrooper, so hopefully it's easy to remove any residue from the shoulder later.

Many of us neither. We are sick of the NRD and the production piece not turn out well and then we eat the NRD by cancelling, because we do not want to buy a figure that has issues.

When's the last HT figure that turned out significantly different and for the worse in comparison with the prototype (only clear example I can think of immediately is Commando)? Seems kind of far fetched, especially in regards to a trooper with no likeness issues to worry about.

In regards to your question, sith, BBTS is rock solid. Never heard of them not fulfilling a pre-order for SSC/HT stuff.

I'll stop you right there and give you a word of advice: Don't PRE-order. Let the manufacturer and distributor take whatever risks and steps they need to /want to to determine their production and you can order once the product is shipping, just like with 99% of all other products.

But if you come back and say "But I WANT to Pre-order to guarantee/reserve a figure" I'll then say this: Pay the deposit because money down is how you reserve things as an adult in 99% of all other purchasing situations.

A store that doesn't charge a deposit is giving customers an insanely sweet gift.

One of the things that caught my imagination as a young'n was the mix of extremely high-tech with really simple/low-tech things combined. Taun tauns and Dewbacks for example as opposed to treaded polar/desert vehicles. The use of holographic communication but super archaic looking switches and knobs on everything from droids to consoles to Darth Vader's chest. I like that there is very little talk about hyperspace and it just happens. Even local yocals can drive space craft at ridiculous speeds. Droids know their place and there isn't a need for Butlerian Jihad or whatever in the Dune machine crusades...

It is all really simple but at the same time ridiculously complex. The disparity breeds rampant imaginative speculation which is why I am partially AGAINST having all these come out before the movie is out. I don't want to ponder every joint and knob on these guys... I want to see them in action. The brief teaser/trailer view of them was awesome... got my imagination working. Now I am feeling sort of inundated with stuff from the movie that I don't want to see or know about yet.

I was playing around considering flexing a few items this one had NRD and cancellation fees. Anyone know if cancellation fee equals NRD or whether they are separate?

Your average person on the street in a First World city probably has only a sketchy idea of how internal combustion engines, iPhones and the Internet work. Such is the nature of high technology so pervasive as to be rendered mundane.

We take it for granted that every 2 minutes you can look up at the sky and see aircraft filled with ordinary people flying very fast to points all over the globe.

As for droids...past trouble and/or general distaste and mistrust was hinted at in the Cantina scene.

I remember IG-88 being referenced as a "clone war droid" around 1980...lots of possibilities there.

the nrd covers the cancellation fee. i've cancelled a few items with nrd and have never been charged the $20.00 cancellation fee.

Cool thanks.....I rarely pre-order but with two $400+ pieces being available, I am considering it along with flex pay. I am aware a few exclusives I have on PO with the NRD, it doesn't mention cancellation fees. I wasn't aware if this is new in addition to NRD or one in the same. Thanks

If you really want it, what is the problem with the NRD?

Lol you must really love those fees don't you? I think I rather have $180 bucks in my pocket which is my case in the near future as I have preorered a bunch; to use on something else than having a dumb NRD fee that would almost cover a figure in full. IMO it should go towards your order IF you pay in full when it releases and lose the NRD if you cancel. So yes..... It is a problem as I am pre-ordering more in the near future and to avoid getting it again and again, I am looking elsewhere.
