I can answer this, I to am in the camp where I got a broken elbow right out of the box and asked for a replacement, after learning that the joint is prone to breakage simply by using it I decided that I would replace the broken arm with the replacement and not pose it, WHY you ask, well because I want my figure not to be broken, weather I plan to leave it in the box, display it or pose it, besides I would know its broken and it would continue to gnaw away at me[emoji14]anic: We pay a lot for a collectible action figure, that alone should help to insure high quality, stuff happens and hot toys makes mistakes, ok I get that, but to assume that we should accept broken products is just crazy talk[emoji38]
True, but what you are getting will break all the same if you later decide that you want to pose it, move it, etc. Then you will not have the warranty.

Edit: what I'm getting at is that this figure, been expensive as it is, still comrs with problems and the one responsible is Hot Toys. And they are probably not and wont do anything about it.

Then again, if it is broken already, why even ask for a replacement if you don't intend to bend it?

That is meant for those to whom it applies
I dont intend to sell it, i really like it and i probably wont sell it unless they make an updated version ( which they wont obviously ). But if i do need to sell it in the future for finance reasons id like to be able to sell it with 2 working elbows. So i request replacements now, while the arms are plenty.

I am fine with casual stances. And he can go in great dynamic poses without his elbows being bent. Infact, the only reason i can think to bend his elbows is to hold the gun 2 handed, which i dont think i will ever display him with.

But im also want to keep the value of my figure where it should be.

Very true, and that sucks and should really be addressed by Hot Toys by creating new arms that are not faulty and provide them to all that bought the figure........but we all know that's not going to happen, so for now, not posing an action figure meant for posing does seem lame, but for me it will have to do as I am a mint in or out of the box collector.

This is another thing. This problem, if widely known by collectors, will most likely impact its resale value. Hopefully not.

I wonder if Hot Toys will address the issue on the red version, I had not particularly wanted that figure but if it is the defect free version I could see some people selling this version to get the red one and having issue trying to sell it with this defect widely known. I also wonder if the Asian release had these issues, I would think they did and I'm sure hot toys were made aware of it, which makes me think back to the amazing spiderman 1 figure, first batch was defective and was fixed for the international release.

Im just going to fix the elbows in a fashion where i know for a fact they will never break and guarantee the next person who may own it they will be getting a figure that is free from problems. I cant guarantee if hot toys sends me out new arms that theyre just the same ones and not 2.0 versions that they retooled unless they officially say that they did so. Im not going to get new arms and pray to god that theyre not going to snap again and just succumb to static poses. I agree that we should be able to pose raiden as intended, thats what we pay for. If there isnt a way for this to be guaranteed and i have to take it upon myself to resolve this problem i will so that i dont have to go through way more trouble than its worth in returns or exchanges. My figure is perfect otherwise. In all honesty, there are a lot of figures that we get where they are too fragile, i deal with it and almost kinda like working on them. If we just hand them back and get refunds then they will start not making them at all too, id rather have something then nothing. I really think they did a great job on this thing even though we have the unfortunate arm issue. Ill deal.

Hi CQC, I'm new to this forum so forgive me for the abruptness of this post.

Let me know if you are selling that left arm. Sideshow told me that they no longer have any replacements for it, and I really want to keep the figure:|

Sheeeeeeet...I haven't gotten a response yet...I'm boned

Did you get the EX? If you didn't, and they don't have an arm/s for you... send that bastard back and try somewhere else. The Muramasa is nothing to lose sleep over.

I love this figure but this arm problem...the question is, even that replacement you get, who says it wont break as easily as the original arm? I kind of doubt they redesigned it, and considering pretty much 90% of the people have the same issue, im pretty sure new parts coming in are same old sculpts.

Hi Fellow Raiden Owners.
Here is the repair/Mod procedure for fixing Raider's defective elbows. My Raiden had two good elbows but when I took it apart the right elbow was cracked and would have eventually failed completely. The left elbow had not cracks but I believe it would also crack over time, so I did the mod to prevent it from ever breaking.

Please look at all pictures before you attempt this repair/mod. i did the right arm first but I show in more step by step detail with the left arm.

I started my repair with a potential huge disaster. I glued the peg in place before putting the forearm back together with the upper arm because i completely took the right arm apart. DO NOT DO THIS. You do not have to take the arm completely apart to fuse the peg in place. See pictures....
Thanks God I was able to remove the peg before it completely dried.

Enjoy the pictures and I hope it helps. It feels so much more sturdier now.

Right Arm Repair First

Arm put back together then apply glue

Test Bend.

Arm All done.

Left Arm Mod First

Remove Forearm Armor.

Remover Elbow Armor

Remover Bicep Armor

Remover Shoulder Armor

This was the hardest part to remove. Needle Nose Pliers work best for me. Grab the peg and slowly twist and pull. Go slow!

Remover sleeeve Armor

There were no cracks to repair so I simply fused the peg in place. Make sure no glue gets to the joint.

Put all the armor back together.

Raiden is ready for action with no fear of elbows breaking.

Thanks for looking and I hope this helps you enjoy this very cool figure. He really is a great figure. :clap

God Bless
AFM

id recommend taking the forearm apart and fusing it that way, its 2 screws and theres 0 room for error that way. on a side note, my ratchet was so tight it never would have moved, so to do it the way you show it would not work for everybody. nice job though. i also like to put my glue on in light coats to prevent running. if it goes into the splits in the forearm youll never be able to get it apart cleanly if it ever does break again and you need to do a more thorough repair.
