Checked my ed, always in good states.
Bought it from the first hk wave, been in its box all the time, protection plastics still on, average temperatures.
No problem so far so good.

Whats the final word on protection? Gummi plefdge? Honda silicone Grease? Mod podge?
Thanks

Honda silicone grease. Only applied two times. Second application was just to fill in any missing gaps or areas.

Over a year later, my ED209 still looks brand new. I also kept it in a Detolf with Eva-Dry wireless dehumidifier.

X2 to everything except the humidifier
Mine is in my display case, probably around 72 degress, fairly humid houston tx

I'm really thinking of picking up this guy. But with all the cracking rubber issues and the cost I struggle to decide on him. I live in FL it's humid and hot. I keep my collectibles in my man cave and keep the room cool at all times maybe upper 70's. I figured if I get the silicone for the rubber it will preserve it?

Same scenario here, I think your good to go, silicone is a must imo

you are just delaying the inevitable. settle and accept that the dome is fakked. silicone grease or gummi pfledge the hell of it to buy some time.
if you cant accept those terms, consider this a pass.
im seeing ed209 as low as 300NZD here, that kinda helped me reconsider.

Is the grease gonna make this thing a dust magnet?

I've applied silicone grease to mine, and no real problems there. It's in a display case, but not a sealed one, so occasionally everything requires a bit of a wipe down, but no real problems so far as that goes.

No cracking either, over a year in, so pretty happy. :)

Here's a question ... exactly how widespread was the rubber deterioration problem on this figure?

Am I the only one on these boards who really had the dome crack all to hell? I ask because I've repeatedly seen folks posting that they either treated their ED early enough to avoid problems or that they never had any problems in the first place.

Could the rubber deterioration actually be more anecdotal and isolated than we think? Is it possible the problem has been overstated?

Don't get me wrong. I'm still SUPER-pissed about what happened to mine. It never should have happened.

I just wonder about the real numbers of verifiable incidents.

<2months of ed's release, reports were coming in of cracking dome. it was THAT early. and NO, its not an isolated incident.

Just bought this one the other day and what can I say he's a beast didn't think he would be that big. Anyone here in the UK thinking of buying him I got my from onesixth for a very good price.
Just hope the rubber does crack as I got him on display outside my case as I haven't got any room inside it.
My three year old son walked into the room pointed at him and said who's that daddy I said it's ed 209 he said I dont like him and ran out the room that's good enough for me.

He is super awesome . Im in the uk too. Iv had mine nearly a year and zero issues. He's even just under the window displayed. I do feel its heat related and constant heat at that. Constant cloud and rain should be fine :)
