I thought Ripley was a big question mark from the beginning. Lots of unmade HT figures that never made it past the prototype stage. First Class figures, Lone Ranger, Prometheus, etc etc. And Ripley isn't Batman. I would not assume this will happen. In fact, I will be pleasantly surprised if it does.

Maybe not both Ripleys, but I expect at least one to go up for preorder this year. We've already seen more of her than we've seen of Prometheus Shaw and Lone Ranger.

I guess she could end up like Charles Xavier (or the 66 Batmobile), but I have faith. Even though Batman Returns Batman is Batman related, that still wasn't a sure thing for as long as it took Hot Toys to roll it out. Same with Marty McFly. I'm confident Ripley will go up for order, probably when we least expect it.

The delay has to do with one of two things:
Legal - likeness approval delays
HT has bigger plans not only to bring us Ripley but other ALIEN related figures but there has been delays.

I think your right, think about it, we get shown Ripley and then Ripley with power loader, so there are tons of new collectors just joining the scene, people who buy a Ripley will want an Alien to go with it, so I figure we will get a big Chap 2.0 and a Queen to go with the Power loader, at least I hope so

I doubt it's a likeness issue, or they probably wouldn't have been allowed to show what they've shown already. And if they didn't have the rights to Weaver's likeness, they probably wouldn't have spent the resources it took to produce the three different portraits that were shown.

My guess is, they were planning to put her up for order last winter or this year, but then word of Blomkamp's upcoming Alien movie came out and I'm betting they decided to push back the release in order to take advantage of the publicity and fresh interest a new movie will provide. (Which is also probably what they're doing with Shaw, too, waiting for a Prometheus sequel.)

Just my guess.

HT has never planned very well. They've lost so many chances over the years at anniversaries and new movie announcements... I don't think their release pattern for ancient franchises has anything to do with capitalizing on such things as a new movie announcement.

More likely, the factory is backlogged with Avengers and Guardians deliverables and these 'nostalgia pieces' just have to wait for an opening. It's not like ALIEN is going anywhere... but some of these newer "blockbusters" need attention now (they likely won't last 40 years like ALIEN).

yeah well when they show me something like alien, batman returns, etc, then deliberately delay it for god knows how long, after a while i dont care anymore about buying it. Like say this goes up for preorder next yr right, well by then i will have 20 other things coming out and brand new stuff to preorder.

I don't care when they put her out as long as she actually does get made. When she goes up for preorder all other items will take a backseat to her necessity in my book. Of course I do hope she's released sooner rather than later. I'm going to be very bummed if she's not at SDCC.

Agreed. She's moving to the front of the line when the pre-order goes up. I have very few "must-get" figures and she's one of them.

This is Ripley, man. We need her. Shaw and young Professor X aren't nearly as iconic as this character. They may take their time with it, but I have hope. Hell of a lot more likely to happen, considering all they've done with her so far, than other announcements they've made (which unfortunately include the 1/4 Predator and Dutch). Hell, I believe it took over two years to get the new Whiplash.

Blade, you pretty much nailed it - Ripley is iconic. She's damn iconic! If I had a daughter, I'd have her middle name be Ripley. I just wonder how much of a market Ripley has to say an Iron Man figure, or a Marvel character. Be she's damn iconic man! Not to mention badass!!
