if you just want cheap and cheerful, forget the p1 maquette. You could look into the 1/4 neca predators? They are figures but they are affordable.

neca figures do look great, is there one that has switch out unmasked and masked head? And how is the quality in person? Does it feel cheap?

I don't know how they feel as I don't own any. I believe they have separate versions for masked and unmasked versions. You could probably find masks available separately though if you look around?

you get what you pay for with a Neca fig. It's not like your paying $100 and it feels like a $300-400 piece. I had a few, even one custom by Dunaway, but it still felt cheap to me, so I booted it.

I had 7 or 8 of them at one time. They are great as long as you don't have better quality pieces, but once you do it is hard to keep them. I ended up selling every one I had too.

Yeah, agree with everyone here. NECA is pretty good for what you pay, but I wouldn't consider them high-end collectibles. You can walk in to some Toys 'R Us and find NECA pieces.

Cheap toys with more accurate sculpts than both Sideshow and Hot Toys for the most part, but yes, cheap toys.

I wouldn't say they are more accurate than some of the Hot Toys. Neca look very good, but toyish... Hot Toys from a distance look like proper statues. And the detail on the new predator faces is fantastic.

The NECA P1/P2 heads are more accurate than their HT counterparts. I have had both. Hot Toys are much better quality though and on a diorama base you could easily think they were statues. In the end they were just too small for me and not enough head detail so I ended up selling all mine. They lasted a lot longer than the NECA ones though:lol.

HT look cool, I don't personally collect them.
Comparing them to statues is just wrong :lol
I can only shake my head in disappointment when some figure collector starts bashing statues.

At the end of the day HT figures are just glorified toys. The only thing they have over statues is poseability, which then presents the problem of exposed joints. Why would you want a small, plastic figure with eye-sore joints when you could have a large, full, aesthetically-pleasing sculpture? Because the man-children that bash statues need something they can constantly touch and pose (play with). They consider statues boring because they don't have a flashy gimmick that mostly appeals to children. :lol

I've got no problem with people who only collect figures, and I have owned several HT's in my time - my disliking is only for those that insult statues/statue collectors and act all high-and-mighty with their glorified toys. :lol

I usually see statue collectors bashing figures. At the end of the day these are just painted chunks of plastic with miniature outfits and accessories. Ask anyone on the outside and it'll be all the same to them. Joints or no joints.

Probably because SS has the license, and they suck at them :| I don't want the HT myself, but I haven't wanted a single one of SS' either recently :|

Col your getting a bit touchy! Put your knickers back on! Lmao! [emoji23]
I have the king of all statues (IMO) so I know what I'm talking about.
For instance... The Predator Diorama from SS looks horrendous when placed next to V2.0 Classic Predator from HT's as the detailing is on a different level. That's all I'm saying. I prefer solid statues of the higher end like my Wolf LSF, however if HT's were to ever re release a Wolf V2.0 then I would be all over it for sure.

We may still get HT 1/4 Preds some day too. I really liked my 1/6 classic P1 conversion, a 1/4 scale may be a great piece if we ever see it.
