Don't know man, personally, I don't like soft rubber molded boots. And they are pretty inaccurate. I think with a bit of work the Bespin boots can work, they have the right basic structure?

Didn't someone modify the Hot Toys boots with a white stripe? I thinks its somewhere in this thread.

Yes, lots of people have I think. What I've done so far.. took apart the HT boots, repainted them and added pale fabric strips to match the prop. Cut down the tops so the "tongue" sticks up like the onscreen versions. They work pretty well, you have to lose most of the hard plastic heel to make them feel like the soft leather movie versions. I wouldn't normally spend so much time on footwear, but I think they will be key to having a good Tauntaun set-up.

:)

that is awesome, Rory... eager to see how your finished Hoth Luke looks.

Did you "waste" your DX07 head, and by that I mean it is useless now for any other Luke figure?

thanx.

Right, so they're rubber? Oh.

The thing is though, they may have the same basic design, but the Hoth boots are big chunky heavy weather boots - not slender, light & form fitting. Just two different things (obviously). Whenever I see people use the DX07 boots for Hoth or Snowspeeder Luke customs, I just think 'why?'. :lol

No mate, they used mukluks. The Bespin boots were the same. Soft leather eskimo style footwear. They used a variety of styles for the rebels. Some were a little chunkier than others but for the most part, including Luke's they looked like this...

He wore the same (but a very dirty variation) in Bespin.

I see what you mean.. my recollection of Hamill's actual Hoth boots had me fixed on the 'chunky' aspect.

Maybe not so much then.. but they're still thicker.

See, you've got these:

..then you've got these:

Way chunky. You can't tell me they're the same boots. He must've had three different pairs for the three outfits (Hoth / Snowspeeder / Bespin).

Yes, but look at the size of his orange flight suit there? :lol
That was a stand in cold weather version, they opened the straps on the boots to accommodate the giant michelin man suit.
They used several different versions, including a extreme weather version, a stunt version etc. I have some stills of the hero costume from the Costume Book, let me dig them out.

This is Luke's *hero* Hoth costume. Of course there were others. But the stain on the vest matches what you saw onscreen.
The leather/suede boots have shrivelled up over time.
