Hello guys! I'm a newbie to the collecting world so this maybe a newbie question.

I received Green Ivy today which also happens to be my very first statue ever!! I fell in love with Green Ivy ever since announced as love Artgerm's work so once got my head around the cost of these things (yikes!) I pre-ordered last year from collectablesdirect here in the UK (now sold out!). So this being my first statue, costing a bomb, loving the artwork on the box and waiting all this time with excitement i'm left quite upset that the lovely box is damaged :(

This may seem trivial but this particular box art (as you know) has amazing artwork and a nice perk for me due to the cost etc (all part of the package). I haven't even cut the seal to finally meet her which is very depressing :( I'm also worried about the future value with the box damaged like this. WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE ON HER FACE!?! :monkey4

So please tell me what you guys think, do I just suck it up or can I do something? (if there even is something that can be done?)

That sucks. I've only gotten one box from SS that had some damage similar to yours. But most of the time all the boxes have a small crumple here or there. Its pretty rare to get a truly flawless box. But having said that I have heard of people contacting Sideshow and getting a replacement box sent to them. It may be worth a shot.

Not being funny but suck it up!
It's a box. It's designed to protect your statue in transit and no it won't affect its value unless someone wants to display the box :huh

Can you imagine being an Authorised Dealer in Sideshow products? Some of their Q.C can be horrendous , being polite.
So day in day out you're trying to deal with any issues the best you can then you get a call/email from some guy saying the box has a crease!
You said yourself it's now sold out with Lee so I'm not sure what resolution you're expecting?

I'll take it for retail if it bothers you that much :D

Maybe he wants to display the box :huh If there was ever box art worth displaying its definitely Poison Ivy's.

I would just inspect the statue bud. Make sure it's a good one and if it is, then I wouldn't worry about the box much. I always say I hope the box is in shape too, but then I realize i just stick them in the closet, never to be seen again so in the end, what do I care?

It's all about protecting that beauty inside. Open it already!

Thanks for your input guys! Collectorcol - I hear what you're saying mate and if I was a hardened collector I might not care (i'm sure box storing is a burden after a while) but being my first piece and this box in particular being so nice I can't help but feel gutted considering the cost. Slightly disagree that the box is only there to protect the contents. If it was a lamp shade, yes, i'm with you 100% but when it's for a numbered limited collector piece where effort has been made to make the box special then it becomes part of the whole package (IMHO).

I know how trivial I may sound but honestly as Uncle Bingo reiterated this particular box art is so damn nice and was something I would have tried to display. If the damage was on the back I wouldn't have cared.

Anyway, Uncle Bingo has given me a glimmer of hope so I'll get in touch with Lee and see if anything can be done through Sideshow. I know it's a long shot. For the record collectiblesdirect packaged it well with extra bubble wrap on the outside of the outer box but it just looks like some #*$% has used it as a punch bag during shipping. Part of me is thinking bad luck on the outside, hopefully means good luck on the inside :idea. but still can't help feeling like i'm missing out on a nice large piece of art. I dunno

Ahhh dude, I've been staring at the box all day wanting to open it. I'm going nuts! :tap I know how stupid I must sound over a box but seriously no other box has made me think "awesome!!!" as this one did when I saw the youtube reviews. Any other box I wouldn't be fussed it's just this particular one. Anyway, i'll see if there's a chance of getting a new one sent. Can't hurt to ask.

Welcome to the forum.
Always good to have new British collectors here :duff

Once you get more experience with purchasing Sideshow pieces you will realise the box condition is the least of your worries.
Thankfully Ivy seems to be one of the better releases with very few reported issues.

Give Lee a shout but I'm just being honest with you. Some of the issues he must have to resolve may drive the average person nuts and I'm worried dealing with a damaged box might be the last straw :lol

Open it, put her on your shelf, admire and you will soon forget about the box.
Who needs a picture when you have the statue infront of you. :wink1:

I actually ordered one from Lee but ended up cancelling. Beautiful statue but venturing into DC may just break me.

Good luck.

Could be worse than a wrinkle.

If I didn't care about my statues retaining their value, I would have a box BBQ a la devilof76 with everyone of them. They are a huge pain in the butt to find storage for them in your home.

that's actually a pretty good idea, always felt there isn't enough plants around her, and it fits in with the whole premium format mixed media theme, I might have to do something like that with mine..
