Now that's what I want! The more 'slender' SS Threepio makes their R2 have the girth everyone says is missing. I think the Tama 3PO is too wide.

Because of the way the two figures are posed (and to some degree the noticeable lens distortion,) it's not a great pic for a size comparison. 3PO looks foreshortened and thinner due to the lens, and R2 looks quite stretched (note size difference between his feet.) The two figs side-by-side would have been great.

In a general sense, R2 is a touch too small, so standing him in front of 3PO corrects that - but only for the picture.

You can pretty much eyeball the lens distortion (although I know all the Tama owners will be in denial until this figure arrives in hand). SS's Threepio has a more narrow torso, which I think helps make R2 seem more squat and pudgy -- room for a little person in there.

That looks great Lopie! Do you think it looks better clean or weathered? Also, does the weathering wipe off easily or did you have to buff it off?

Just opened mine up. The dome has a few imperfections, one being a scratch. I think my third wheel is slightly crooked too. Unsure if it's worth asking for a replacement or not, but it does suck.

Otherwise I love the little guy. Looks really nice. EDIT: contacted sideshow and supplied pic evidence. Hate that little scratch and black streak!

Seeing as those scuffs are pretty close to that round hole, I can only imagine they were made by C-3PO.

Yeah, I love the SSC 3PO body (more than the Tama.) The SSC head I'm still not crazy about at all (even in that pic) - but I love 3PO, so I'm splurging $$$ to have both the SSC and Tama.:slap

I just think a straight side-by-side would be helpful. In taking pics of some of my customs lately, I've been amazed how much lens distortion can change things.

Here are a few more shots of the difference without the weathering. The above pics are the Clean R2, it;s hard to tell with pics but in person its very noticeable difference. I definitely will get another R2 for my Jabba display.
Wow! Fantastic work, Lopie.

The major thing that stands out to me when displaying R2 with my Tama 3PO is how dirty R2, I may do this cleaning job and cancel my Sideshow 3PO.

Is Lopie's de-weathering technique "risk free"? I'm just wondering how it can take off the weathering paint but not the blue or silver paint.

Great work, looks so much better imo. Sorry if I missed a post, how'd you do it? Just 91% isopropyl and a q-tip?

I'm thinking the same... I can't really justify the spend on a second 3PO and I'd like the droids to match up a bit better than they currently do.

I`M sure these all came with lose doors. so I used super glue like they did with the old Hasbro gi-joes and dabbed a little into the joints and rocked them back and forth until the joints started to stiffen up. just don't let the glue sit on the joint or it will be glued shut.

I saved paying Wor-Gar's and King's exorbitant unboxing rates and opened it myself.

I got a good example. I get what people are saying about it feeling light and flimsy, but I can't say that a HT Iron Man figure feels any better. With all those opening compartments it couldn't have been made any more robust.

Lights nice. Sound would've also been nice.

The weathering is the disappointing part of it for me, I'll remove the 'grime' (thanks for the pics Lopie) and put it next to shiny 3PO.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it.
