Re: SSC - Temple of Doom - Indiana Jones

Finally saw the pictures.

Sideshow Alex, you gotta tell the guys to change that terrible Zizzle-style bag strap. It's really horrible -- but I believe you guys can do that. And a better holster please. The jacket thing, I don't expect to be done for the new bare bones price of $230.

Anyway... it's always good to see Indy... even when it's not.

This could be the best Ford head sculpt yet.. hopefully the production figure will knock it out of the park.. not sure it will fit into my collection, but a great looking figure for Indy fans.. is this based on a Sideshow PF from awhile back?

It's too bad we're not getting a clean sculpt (non-bloody) as well. Trevor's sculpt on the Raiders Indy was good but it looks so cartoonish with the bad factory paint caked on over it. An alternate Indy portrait could really make all the difference in upgrading the Hot Toys DX.

Yeah I would love a clean portrait. I imagine the wounds are sculpted on too, which will make modding a little difficult... if not expensive haha.

Re: SSC - Temple of Doom - Indiana Jones

If it's still $230+ or whatever with no jacket, then I'm going to have a hard time justifying this one. If the paint really turns out that way, then I'll end up getting one of those heads, though. BIG if.

AGAIN with the who is this posts?? While your entitled to your opinions, so am I. Some of you are just too freaking picky.
Its as if as soon as a new fig is out you goal is to immediately critique it and tear it apart.

Re: New Indy 1:6 from SS?

Was hoping SS would knock this one out of the park, but I'm not exactly blown away with what I've seen so far - especially at that price. Whatever people's misgivings on Drake, the tailoring and weathering on the clothing was excellent, but Sideshow seem to have taken a backward step in that regard with this IMO. I'm lucky enough to own the ToD PF, so unless the in hand pics show a massive improvement on the proto, it's $230 dollars saved for me.

No man, not tearing apart!

Personally I just think this sculpt is no better than HT's. Both suffer from issues. Now that's a great sculpt, and a great figure. I just wish Trevor's sculpt had had the same paint apps. This one was clearly a masterpiece, ruined by a ****** paint job unfortunately.

But again, not tearing it apart. It's just that Ford seems to be very unlucky with all his sculpts, that's all.

Re: New Indy 1:6 from SS?

I have no indy at all, so this will be a buy for me. Sad to say, but if I have to, I can have the head redone by a customizer. Sucks to even have to think about that with a $230.00 tag.

Re: New Indy 1:6 from SS?

I don't understand why they have included his gun, he didn't have that anyway in India, lost in in Shanghai.
The jacket I would understand, cause he had it on at the end of the movie.

Re: SSC - Temple of Doom - Indiana Jones

Why i know many of you say the trevor sculpt just suffered from a bad paint job, i think this sculpt is as good if not better than Trevors. Price wise? i dont like it. its too bare for what youll pay.

Don't jump the gun yet, you gotta save some of that energy for when the figure actually comes out. Don't praise a prototype so much with SS's track record lets hope it even looks remotely like any of the prototype pics.

Re: SSC - Temple of Doom - Indiana Jones

I've got a Trevor Indy repaint, and have seen many others. None of the 1/6 sculpts of his, even with great paint, really compare to the prototype here IMO. His 1/4 scale Raiders sculpt? Sure.

Ugh, prices these days... do want, will pass.

Re: SSC - Temple of Doom - Indiana Jones

why do they have to make the collars BIG?

True,

But I don't think you can compare what can't be compared.

Trevor's is a few years older and even though it showed on the proto, the final version lacks any texture. Plus you're mentioning repaints and here, the proto is a flesh colored cast just made up. A fully painted head can never achieve the transparency of a flesh colored cast.

I'm sure that a more modern cast of Trevor's sculpt would make that one pale in comparison.

Plus take a look at the front views. It's clearly off. The angle makes the new sculpt look good, just as HTs appears spot on on some angles and with proper lighting, and we all know it's one of HTs warts!:)

Yeah I have to agree. I'm a huge Trevor fan, but even with the best repaints I still have to struggle to see Ford's likeness in that headsculpt. And even the head on my Raiders PF (while clearly Ford) is a bit too exaggerated and cartoonish for my taste.

To me, this sculpt (while still a bit off) comes a lot closer to looking like Ford.
