So I just finished watching the original movie again after not seeing it for probably 15 years... Surprised by how silly much of it was. No reason IMO to hate the new one if you love the original as far as thinking one is more "serious" or "well made" then the other. I guess if you hate MB or CGI then you could hate on it. But as story telling goes... One is not much better then the other. IMO the new one had better action and was a funnier. Hated the Axel F soundtrack of the original also.

Old one had better Human characters by far IMO... Much preferred Casey Jones and April in the old one. Not that April and the TV guy were bad... Just boring.

Watched a little bit of the Animated movie... Well I rushed through it.... I am Turtled out. I think the look of that film is cool at parts and I like how they did the Turtle characters.. Not enough Foot Clan fighting... And I don't care for the monster fights.

So I guess I like the new movie best... But like I said before... I hold no allegiance to any of the old cartoons or toys and have never thought the original film was anything special... Enjoyed the comics way back when but don't remember them.

I still think they could make a more serious TMNT film based on the original story from the comics. In the comic, Splinter's owner was a ninja and he kills Oroku Saki's (Shredder) brother because of a woman and because of that incident, they leave Japan. Because of his brother's death, Oroku Saki joins the foot clan and becomes a ninja and he works his way up until he becomes the leader of the American branch of the foot clan. Not long after he gets to NY, he kills Yoshi (Splinter's owner) and his wife. 15 years later Leonardo "kills" Shredder, thus avenging what happened to Yoshi. That's way more interesting than BayShredder in a robot suit having zero connection to Splinter and working with some dude who wants to be, as he said, "stupid rich." :slap

I still enjoyed the new film, but the 1990 is my favorite.

Like I've said, the Nick Turtles got it right.

Splinter is Hamato Yoshi. He was in the same ninja clan as Oroku Saki so it makes sense he has skills to match Shredder. Saki grows jealous of Yoshi's family having been in love with his wife before they married. He fights Yoshi and it escalates and the dojo burns, scarring Saki, while Yoshi's wife and baby daughter are killed.

Yoshi flees to America where he finds the Turtles and Yoshi attempts to intervene in an alley full of Ultroms up to no good. All 5 are mutated and he raises them as his family to replace what he's lost.

Shredder eventually finds out and targets him to finish what he started and it's revealed that Karai is in fact Yoshi's baby daughter who survived and was raised by Shredder who's convinced her that Yoshi murdered her mother.

So much potential for an actual family story with emotion wasted.

There are a few other flashbacks to tell the full backstory, this fight has the big ones.

That show looks like it could be interesting... May have to give it a look...

I'm surprised that it beat Guardians again. With all the repeat view vs people are talking about Guardians should be on top. Guess not even Rocket and Groot and beat turtle power.

Tmnt is a huge brand. Many shell heads out there.

The nick cartoon is, IMO, the best TMNT out there in terms of storyline. The designs are fine. It's light hearted at times but also can be darker at other times.

He learned from watching his owner

Ummmm... But if we are talking about people complaining about the new film and not the old it has to be pointed out that He was just a rat at the time... Not Ooze infested Rat... Just a rat... I believe a Genetically engineered rat learning kung Fu from a book is more "believable" then a everyday Rat learning it from watching his master.

LOL I can't believe I just wrote that :)

I don't like what I just saw... I rather watch the original 80s cartoon, This, I don't know I dont like the style and the lack of humor in this (Shredder in the original cartoon was a goofball)

And, see this is another thing I dont get, people complain about the new April, but they have no problem with April being a weird kid in this cartoon? there is no consistency in the hate

I hate to admit this but I actually enjoyed this as much as GOTG.... Having said that I don't happen to think GOTG is as great as everyone else does nor do I think that TMNT as bad as everyone else thinks it is.

Yea lately people have been doing this new thing where if it's not marvel then it sucks. Being a huge marvel fan I'm annoyed by how much people act like every marvel film is pure perfection and put down other characters or movies that aren't part of marvel. People seem to forget that Thor movies are terrible and iron man had 1 good movie. Tws was a good movie but no masterpiece like so many people claimed it to be. But whatever.

Sitting at 19% again.. :lol

Sitting at #1 again. :lol

:dunno

In regards to franchises that are close to my heart, in this case TMNT, I'd much rather have a well made film that will last long in the memory than for it to make loads of money. Money is only important to the studios, it's not like we get any of it. Transformers was #1, doesn't mean it's a great film. I'm sure Transformers fans would rather have a decent film and for it to make half the money.
