Thanks, Pixelpiper. I think I probably will. They all look pretty solid. Is everyones expectations that the figures I mentioned should integrate pretty seamlessly with what HT will put out? Also, what are the differences in the materials/quality of the body materials in SS vs HT? Is there an expectation of better quality in terms of materials (like joints, pegs, etc.) and not just head sculpts?

Helmeted figures from sideshow hold up fine among hot toys figures. I display Hot Toys Luke with vader and it looks awesome. As far as bodies, Hot Toys is much better, some people do body swaps on their figures. I have left my figures from sideshow as is.

As far as materials? They are more or less the same. Sideshow is more mindful of longevity with the figures they produce. Hot toys has made some materials mistakes, particularly anything with rubber. They are both good brands and make great products.

Great information there! If I may ask, what exactly makes HT's bodies better than SS's, enough so that people are willing to switch them out? And is it really worth doing so (does it enhance accuracy, durability or something else)?

That said though, some of the earlier clone releases like the Ep2 grunt, had vinyl under suits that deteriorated over time.

Just do some homework BigMachine, read up & inform yourself - there's plenty of threads to read through.. then you won't go wrong.

The legs are splayed a little, but... anyone not happy with that can shove their vernier callipers up their bum.

Here are a couple of picks I was able to take a little bit ago for y'all! Hope these help!

Hey guy...you ROCK!!! Thanks soo much for showing that off, especially for your peeps that couldn't attend. I was already sure your droids looked great, but that pic referring to the scale of droids in relation to one another has been one of the most requested aspects of this release. On behalf of all fans and freaks...looking forward to adding these to my collection.

Thanks for the first person opinion. Interesting that it didn't wow. It seemed in the pics that the sculpted/painted wires looked good, but the high-contrast lighting would have helped make them look batter.

The R2 does look like a home run - if his height ends up okay. Were you able to judge that at all?

Height of R2 looks ok, not quite accurate but as a standalone piece, he's amazing. Really impressed as I fiddled around with him. The touch sensor to light him up is a great engineering feature!

Thank you very much Alex, you're a great asset to the Sideshow team and friend to the collectors here on the board! R2 seems a little under-scaled, but I think it's within an acceptable margin - it should work. 3PO is looking mighty fine out of his glass prison too. :clap

:rock Thanks for your effort!

I think I'll be picking up 3PO as well to pair with R2, and the Tama can remain a stand-alone piece.

That's the nail in the coffin for Marty McFly sadly.

Thanks for taking a moment to snap these shots. Even if they won't settle the "in scale to each other" debate going over here, they do convince me i'm up for adding one of each to my collection.

Yeah it is definitely a little on the short side but not as bad as feared. I think the finish on 3po looks nice. Does he come apart?

That's such a nice set as well, really nostalgic and an instant classic, but I'm not enough of a super-fan to pick it up. Glad to see them pull it off though.

Pixel is satisfied. The debate is settled :lol

I know, I can't believe I'm passing on it. The bland expression didn't help though... 3PO, Ripley or McFly, one of them had to go. Even though I have the Tama, the SS version will be a better match for R2, so I really have to double up on the character if I don't want to wince a little every time I look at them.

Wooo! ;) Now… It doesn't mean they're necessarily in scale with other figures… Oh oh! ;)

Acceptable margin you said. Congress has already passed the bill :lecture

Other figures though... and then Hot Toys somewhere down the road... Oh oh is right :lol

DX Luke is ok though right?

DX Luke is ok though right?

:dunno Hard to tell without a ruler. ;) But if I pose these guys with anyone it would be an as-yet unmade Farm Boy Luke and an SSC Ben Kenobi if I can score one for a low price - unless a new version comes out. My plan is also to display them on top of my wall-mounted (short depth) Besta where their footing would be overhead. That means I can "lift" R2 a tiny bit without anyone being able to tell and I'm sure everything will look even better than it does now. Table, Leia hologram, some extra mood lighting and Ben's hut/archways made of plaster in the background.
