Look. Depending on the day you catch me, I would say Batman Returns is either my favorite or second favorite Batman film ever made, So I want these figures as much as the rest of you. They will come. The teaser for Arkham City Batman proves they will come. People thought Hot Toys had abandoned the Arkham City license and here they are now, showing off the reveal teaser. Batman Returns figures are going to come as well. Its just not going to be as quickly as some of you might like. Figures from a 22 year old film are NEVER going to take priority over licenses in the present, unless there is some sort of hype that has resurfaced (The 1966 show being licensed out and finally seeing home release for example).

The racoon and the tree are from an upcoming film that has quite a bit of buzz to it. The table with stuff on it is from a film that past a billion dollars in revenue last year and happens to be Hot Toys' best selling line. BOTH films are for an overarching license that is hotter than **** at the moment. It is very reasonable to expect to see figures and stuff from films that are in the midst of serious hype than from a 20+ year old film that the general public has likely forgotten about.

It is Batman. Hot Toys will make and release, at the very least, Batman from this film. I still believe the DX15 will be the Batman Returns Batman. But, it makes business sense to release figures from new movies (Marvel) or newer incarnations of characters (Arkham City & Dark Knight Trilogy) before an older version that I am sorry to say, is a little niche now. For those of you that might only be interested in the older films, I'm sorry. It sucks to have to wait for the figures you want. I'm waiting for these too. But the honest truth is if the '89 stuff sold well enough, we would have seen these figures two years ago and we would now be arguing about which version of Vicki Vale and Bob the Goon they didn't do and should have, and wondering when they're going to release Circus Thug #5. The older Batman stuff just isn't going to be as popular as the newer stuff and unfortunately is going to get put on the backburner. Its just basic economics.

I say we wait until after this week when SDCC is over then lock up this thread permanently and throw away the key.

Surely within the past 2 years, Hot Toys has seen this thread or their Facebook with all those annoying "where's Batman Returns and Arkham???". I mean, they saw those Morgan Freeman and Michael Keaton figures from Ace toys and ask Dave to shut them down because they didn't like that another company produced those. So I say it's a good bet they've seen these discussions in this thread. They just don't care.

A backstage progress teaser shot would have been nice, just to be like "yo, we're working on these", but nada. They should have never released that announcement when they did in my opinion. At this point, I'd be relieved if they just came out and said "we decided not to do them" or "we lost the licensing to produce them" and state they're cancelled. Seriously, say they come out next year or the following year, that's a long wait. At that point, the waiting will definitely have taken it's toll and we'll be looking at $315+ figures that will be DOA.

That's a good point (in bold). They must visit these forums in some capacity. And yet they completely and utterly failed to heed any warnings about the ED-209 dome rot over the course of 8 ****ing years.

Yeah, ED-209. That's literally all we discussed in those threads for a year before it was finally released. Surely they caught the gist of that at a passing glance (not to mention the 6 years of warning).

And I just saw that hellicarrier. What the hell? These dioramas and scaled down models for Marvel and Nolan Batman are getting out of hand. Coulda made Terminator, T-1000, or Captain America's bike with that $$$. Or an '89 armory vault instead of another Iron Man hall of armor set (this time a styrofoam box, literally). Bet we don't see any burned browses Termibator headsculpt or Battle damaged '89 Batman accessory packs, but we'll get Stark Industries sets!
Oh well.

Almost guaranteed the first few posts in the thread for the new ED-209 would have been ''hope the dome isn't rubber, make it plastic this time Hot Toys''. If they came here to check out the reaction to the Robocop announcements that day they would have seen it. And in the weeks and months after ''anyone hear what the dome will be made of? I hope its not rubber''. And I can't believe no one in China was telling them. All ignored.

The Bat I can kind of understand, since they already revealed the 1/6th version and showed it off to the public. It was sort of a way to throw a bone to people who may have wanted an HT Bat. A helicarrier, though? What scale could that even be?:lol

I know that was my very first thought when it was shown. Everyone pretty much mentioned.

Instead of making accessory kits or out of scale models they should be coming out and apologizing about the ED-209 and offering free dome replacements and leg/arm caps made out of plastic. But nah. I hate to be cynical, but I bet every accessory pack they make will cater to newbs that "missed out". 2014 and 2015 will be the years of the reproduction. Think that exclusive accessory that you got is special? Don't worry, they'll have an accessory pack that includes it.

I bet money that they release a "Nolan Batman accessory pack" that ****s on the MMS 67 and DX 02 Batman by including the mangler, cape backpack and sonar head. We used to say "good on Hot Toys for making that *insert unique quality to figure set here exclusive*" but I bet they go crazy with rereleases of previous items.

I'm thinking of selling all of my 1/6 stuff that isn't from 80s movies (I.e the niche licenses that aren't mainstream). There's a **** storm coming.

Let's face it, we're living in the year 6 AD (After Downey.) It's his world now. All your accessory packs are belong to him. And if he wants an armored Batman figure colored yellow and hot rod red, he's going to get one.

Because he IS Iron Man.

Hopefully we might get some Batman Returns stuff in 7 AD.

Amazingly all true.................Marvel controls all...Disney opens the bank vaults..HT hopes to get spillage...

Disney or Walmart buy each other out.

Then we see Hot Toys Iron Man and other Disney figures sold at retail alongside toilet paper and undergarments.

Do we know exactly how well the '89 stuff sold? Are there sales figures, or retailers in the know who have posted their observations? I'd love to know if HT was disappointed with the sales, or if the sales were what HT expected.

I think we all understand and acknowledge that (in fact, I have said pretty much this exact thing earlier in this thread).

The point is though that it has been 2 and a half years since this license was announced.... with not a single thing shown. There isn't any excusing that. Yeah, current stuff takes priority- But just how long can this license get stuck on the backburner?

When they announced this line, the first Avengers film hadn't even hit yet. There was no Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Cap 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc etc etc. There will ALWAYS be something current for them to tackle now. Marvel Studios isn't going anywhere. In fact, they are just going to keep cranking up their film output. So if the landscape of current licenses was too crowded for the past 2 years to crack in somewhere... Well, I doubt the future looks any brighter.

So if this line truly is on the "only if we have nothing better to do" status... It just won't ever happen. And if that is the case, they need to just say so and quit dangling this carrot.

I'm so sick of Hot Toys and their Marvel stuff and their general don't give a ****** attitude towards people who have been buying their stuff since they began. I am switching over to other companies. Also, it's been said here or on another thread - It's kind of bleh once you open the figures. Last figure that really impressed me was the old mms117 - and I have the DX13 - even the 66 Batman & Robin didn't last that long in their impressiveness.

Anyway, I am done with HT - Let's hope some small company will create the rest of the Batman figures - or just hand it over to Star, they've been doing a great Steve McQueen and the Harry Potters - all WB licenses.

Really HT? Styrofoam? and the sh***y accessories pack - and that stoopid looking flying boat thing...Probably once these are released, if ever they will be way way overpriced, and pretty bare bones.

Oke, end rant I'll see myself out now.

We have to admit that we, Burton bat's fans, are minority... so as Sallah said, Batman Returns is just "if HT has nothing better to do"...

Yep - well said man. :duff

Not everything has to be doom and gloom.

Or they are spacing out their Batman releases and wanted to get Arkham City out first, as the hype train started revving up for Arkham Knight. New licenses haven't stopped them from doing figures from older films, but yes. They are spaced out in between licenses for new films. And a lot less frequent as a section of consumers would like. I still think we will see these before the Superman V Batman movie. If we don't, then and only then, will I start pushing the "Probably Canceled" button. The only thing I will agree with you on is Hot Toys' communication sucks. But then again, I`m not sure I`d want to tell the fan base that one set of figures are delayed because I think something else will sell better right now either. I personally think they announce a lot of these licenses to gauge interest before committing themselves fully to making the figures.

I rember seeing the original poster tease and thought cool, hope they don't come too soon though.

3 years later we are still waiting, I'd be OK with it now.

And I was certain that bat ear we saw was Keaton.
