Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

One thing just hit me.

If this is supposed to be a "replica" of the armor storage area under Tony's house, why do all the armor displays have the little "Iron Man 3" plaque on them?

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

These should come with every Iron Man figure, if they are made of styrofoam.

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

It does look like the material the t4 John Connor box is made of. I'm sure if it is then it's coated with something to prevent wear. If you have limited experience with styrofoam or the like you would be surprised how many large scale sculpts, set pieces, statues, Ect are carved out of styrofoam then resin or whatever is used as a hardner . My father(I'm nearly 35 so I'm not a kid) is currently working on a film project that requires two 40 plus foot tall statues and they are being carved out of foam. Then with a hard coat you'd never know. They look great out of foam though. Odd to see. Lol stuff is least messy to work on.

Edit-anyone notice the pic of the basement setup of these with all the hot toys figures in the slots...there are three figures in there that have not been released or announced as far as I know. If this has been talked about I apologize, not read every post yet.

There's a funky colored one, a hologram one and another odd color not yet released. Also no starboost in any slot. But there are the Mk 5 and 7, Midas, heartbreaker, red snapper, 42,33, the two gun metals, Mk II, Python and nearly every other released figure (though I don't recall Mk IV and vi but may just not remember).

:lol

I don't see how styrofoam would hold up over time if these were stacked 2,3,4 high with plastic and Diecast figures plus the bases.

Not to mention the electronics and batteries for the lights in both the wall unit and the base.

It uses the same light up base which comes with War Machine and Iron Patriot correct?

So at least those people displaying one of those will have a museum style baseplate (unless they changed the design so it doesnt fit).

Pretty much... with added LED's!

I would rather them just sell the blank light up stands in packs of say 3 or more, then I could then build my own display out of Coco Pop's boxes like when I was a kid!

They needed to find a way to just make it a bit more tacky. Probably just for branding purposes. They think people like that sort of thing, and I suppose some do.

Though in all seriousness, replica (even in quotations) is a word far too kind to use. "Approximation" perhaps.

I'm looking forward to these

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

There's been ~25 IM armor figure releases so far, I'm pretty sure I'll have the last laugh :wink1:

42 - 25 (let's pretend they're all movie armours) still leaves a few missing, by my calculations.

Hey, what do you know, basic grade school maths does come in handy!

We'll see. I suspect people will start to drop off after the 6th version of a simply repainted Mark 7 goes up for sale at $400.

Looks like the same plastic that comes on these plastic top folding tables, almost the same color as my table actually. It will be solid but very lightweight and I assume very susceptible to scuffs and impressions.

I guess that would be ideal

..erm. isn't this a cheap styrofoam box?
The same as they have been packaging their die cast figures in?

And where did I (or anyone else) state that HT was done making armors? :cuckoo: Nowhere. :lol

They've made more than half and are still pumping them out like nobody's business, so take your doom and gloom 'calculations' back to the drawing board kiddo.

Very good point. It won't. They will buckle then crack under pressure. And I am 100% that these are the same as the styrofoam packing we have seen recently.

I agree- they better be cheap and not the rumored $100 plus...

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

No way these will be under $100. This is hot toys we're talking about.

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

I love that the mark 3 they used has pink panties and the pink abs.
