Well that´s the general outlook, Snake.
On mine the left leg sleeve is completely compromised and the dome a little bit, but the rest is sure to come.
And since all rubber parts are the same material, all are sure to rot.

Thx, man.
:1-1:

Yeah mine just might be deteriorating at a slower pace, I don't expect to own this thing for years without it happening. The only issue I've noticed with mine when I got it was that there is a hairline mark about 2 or so inches long on part of the dome. I'll take some shots of mine tonight for you guys. I would assume temperature is a factor in this problem, and the crappy rubber they used.

Ill be sending mine back when I hear back from SSC, mine is showing signs of cracking so I cant keep it. I feel really depressed about it too.
ED209 is very iconic to me and to have to deal with this defective rubber crap on a 400$ collectible is disgusting. HT should be held accountable.

Yep...sure is and I already thought of something (wondered myself why it didn´t occure to me earlier):

I have a company 5 minutes by feet away from me, which are professionals with industrial standard rubber and otherrubber-like material and the company where I work does buisness with´em for many years.

I´ll take photos of the sleeves on the figure and the dome, show´em that and ask what it would cost to produce somethink like that, which will NOT rot and what size an order should have to make buisness...

Please do this Endo as I would really like to know what they think is the cause of this premature degredation. Google cant tell me ****!

If the line you are referring to starts from the back and on the right side of the dome; (looking at the front) then that is common among all units and is most likely a manufacturing result.

Mine is on the left side, but I did see the same exact mark on another ED in mwctoys review.

Wonder if he's got any replacement domes lyin' around?

No one sent it back so far, but SS did sent a mail confirmation about taking the costs minus shipping...

I didn´t buy from SS, but sending it back wouldn´t be an option for me. If I sent it back, I´d have paid 200$ for nothing.
Now it is 500$ for a rotting something.

Silly question, but . . .

Anyone here a lawyer?

Are the number of affected customers with defective ED-209s eligible for a class action suit against SSC in the US and HT?

Seriously this makes me very sad...
Not angry just sad...
Its a great piece, a grail for all of us who grew up loving the movies...
And its just fubar because of these a$$holes...
Way to piss on peoples dream hot toys...
They are clearly playing the waiting game hoping it Will go away...

They've had yrs to redesign this ED 2.0 and then all that time it was delayed and pushed back.
They never even answered when we tried asking what the dome was made out of.
This is unacceptable for how much they charged.

How's the gathering of people with proof of faulty domes going? I'm assuming that's the only way SSC and Hot Toys will listen is if enough people complain like with DX02

Well, I WROTE THEM.
Jeff Parker wrote them.

I don't know who else.

But I think they will just sort out complainers:
All SSC customers will be sent to SSC, all non Toy Hunters/Secret Base/Toy Sapiens customers will be sent away.

We need to concentrate guys!

Everyone with problems should email them.
Everyone with problems should post pics and complaints in a seperate posting on Facebook.

If we all just post into the comments of one posting that will be it.
It doesn't look much on first sight.

Well sideshow is accepting returns and refund but HT is basically ignoring peoples.
Agreed Eisselmann, do you think a facebook page devoted to the problem could help?

I think everyone of us should post on their facebook page.

I was so free to write something.

I think we should all use the same text over and over again so it looks massive on their page.

How do you think about zhis text?
I am sorry, I am no native english speaker but I hope the text conveys what I mean:

"These are actual pictures of my 1 1/2 months old MMS204 ED209 figure.

As with the old figure, the dome starts to deteriorate.
Only this time already after one and a half months rather than after a year or so.
And as a nice bonus, also do the rubber sleeves on the arms and legs.

You guys from Hot Toys NEVER answered your fans questions in the past year what material would be used for the new dome.

This, the fact that the old figures had the exact same problems years ago and your unwillingness to communicate with us can only be described as a hard slap in the face of your customers as apparently you do not care for us, having defective figures only one to three months after release.

Some of us brought this new old topic up to you in a very kind manner, including me.
We asked for a real and constructive communication between you and us fans/collectors who are supporting your company for years, even if there were debacles like the DX02
(where you publicly denied the problems most of the customers had and secretly changed the suits material without compensating early adopters.).

Your current communication with us is not appreciative and leaves a lot to be desired.

One answer to certain people is:

"Our production team is aware of the problem already and is investigating into the issue. We’re waiting for an update from them.

In the meantime, may you refer the people who have contacted you to send an email to our Customer Service department ([email protected] ) with photos of the affected areas and the sales receipt if they haven’t done so already.

Thank you for your help"

The answer to the majority of customers is this though:

"Thanks for your information!
However, after checking, xxx is not our official retailer.
Please kindly understand that after-sales service will only be provided for first-hand purchase via official channels.
After-sales service is not applicable for purchase on online auction sites (e.g. eBay, Yahoo) and unofficial channels.
For the next time, we highly recommend that can purchase from our official dealer that after-sales service can be guaranteed
We are sorry that replacement cannot be offered for your case.

If your collectible figure is purchased from xxx, we recommend that you can contact them directly and they will provide you with after-sales service according to their terms and conditions."

Hot Toys!
We don't want echanged figures!
We're fans of the RoboCop franchise and love the characters, that's why we bought this figure.

We want to get to a satisfying solution TOGETHER with you!
It would be sufficent if there would be the possibility to get durable rubber, or even better hard plastic domes and new, durable rubber sleeves for the joints on the ED209 figure.

Hot Toys.
Now is the time to react and start to help us.

Don't risk more of the collectors to return their figures.
Don't risk more of us cancelling per orders of upcoming figures.
Don't risk your reputation amongst us.

As of now we can only warn every potential buyer of a Hot Toys figure of a planned putchase since Hot Toys will totally let you down in case of a defective figure by flawed production design."

And everyone should add actual pics of their figure as well.

What do you think?

If everyone of us posts this every day without an answer from them in their page probably they're gonna react in some, hopefully positive way.

Yep, exactly...like concentrating fire.
I'll post the first two pics later too, with a big message on it.

But...Olbertfrog...the problem is that we; Eisselmann and myself, didn't buy from SS, or HT.
We bought ours from a german seller...who's really responsible and who checks on this subject with HIS seller.
Dunno if we get something out of it, but...we really should send the word out big time...

Ooooh, and we should add that we warn every potential buyer of a HT figure to buy since they totally let you down in case of a defective figure by flawed production design.

I just added that to the text above.
