This looks so much better than their Mk42. Something about that statue is ugly to me. Face sculpt is weird and paint all looks caked on, like a girl in an insecure nightclub who doesn't know how to do her makeup.

That IM Mk 42 I heard was getting the most attention of all the XM statues at the show. Actually, the female model at the show was getting the most attention. The IM MK 42 is the only statue from XM so far that I can say for certain I am passing on. This IM Mk7 is more than likely going to be bought.....unless SS's Legacy Mk 7 is great (which from the look of the pics will be awesome).

Other than the sculpt, the armor paint looked solid in every pic I saw.

What pics did you see where you drew this conclusion on the total statue?

IMHO the Mark 42 was simply a boring sculpt. While I think they nailed the museum pose with Cap, IMO they dropped the ball with the Mark 42 and Hulk. Their recent reveals Phoenix, Magneto, Hawkeye, AntMan, and the Mark VII really scream to me of a group of artists who are getting braver... And this Mark VII does look awesome, but then again the concept art for SSC is pretty damn amazing so we shall see.

Interesting that you don't like the Hulk. What bothers you about it? I didn't love it at first but it's grown on me. Thought it looked awkward, but then I realized it's similar to how I've often posed my HT Hulk.

Just the ones on the XM website.

No argument here, the 42 is a pretty boring pose. The paint of the armor itself looked pretty good to me from every pic I have seen.

The one exception, the sculpt, looked very poor. Regardless, for those who chose not to display the open sculpt the piece looks solid, though expensive for what's offered imo.

And agree again regarding the Hulk, it's really the only piece they've shown that is poor imo.

The pose used for the Hulk and how they handled the neck area is poor IMHO. I talked about this in the Wolvwrine thread, but XM is kind of breaking a cardinal rule of dynamic poses. Your arms and legs should be working counter laterally to have a dynamic powerful pose. If your arm is forward the leg on that side of the body should be back, and if the leg is forward the arm should be back. XM got it wrong IMHO

Instead of him really looking like he is in action he looks flat and static to me. More like he is going to slap his knee, nw I know it is part of the arc of motion ... Or at least it is a possible position, it is just that it is a boring ass part of it.

Now the Koto and SSC pieces got it right.

He has dynamic power. These show that the XM guys just haven't matched that dynamic pose and sense of motion.

Yeah the Hulk is a total miss for me. They should have taken him back to the drawing board again.

This can't go up for pre order fast enough :lol

Magneto is supposedly next in line before this, so here's to hoping we get a peak at a painted up Magneto soon

@spidey it's a little diffident in this case because hulk is going to throw a haymaker with his left hand. You wouldn't step forward with your left foot while cocking back a punch with your left hand. Opposite foot forward in boxing, gives you more power using the natural contortion of your body, then unraveling with full force.

Like throwing a baseball or football.

I see what you mean though I don't wholly agree with you're cardinal rule. For the pose they chose, the feet are in the proper position. To me the pose is the end of pulling him left fist back for XM Hulk from a standstill. Not lunching or lurching forward, which is what the Koto and SSC pieces are doing, hence the difference in leg position for weight distribution. It may not be your ideal type of action pose, but for the pose it is, the feet are in the correct position. This is more of a threatening pose than an action pose in a sense. But the pictures XM put up also look the worst of any pictures I've seen. The video and other pics look better. I don't think XM's photographer does a very good job with these things when they look better under natural lightning. I feel the same about their Captain America.

I am not arguing that it isn't a proper stance. Just less dynamic. I started this sketch after I first saw the XM piece to kind of get my thoughts out... Going to have time soon to finish it.

I just think the contra lateral pose works better

Nice sketch. That pose is more a comic book pose that indicates movement. I actually don't love that kinda thing for my statues for the most part and they aren't moving, so a solidly done pose that actually looks like it could be held in real life works for me in most cases. My Weta Azog on Warg being the big exception to that for me.

We don't need to agree Surly... Honestly I get that the pose is valid. I just dont think it works particularly well is all, but that is just my background and opinion talking.
