I actually think most of the 1/5 stuff is really awesome. Its to bad collector bias trashed those lines

Some of those sculpts were fantastic. I still own some 1/5 pieces. I look at my Punisher COM and I'm amazed at how incredible it looks to this day. However, I must admit that it would have looked even better in 1/4 scale. I feel that way about all my 1/5 pieces.

Personally I would of preferred 1:5 scale statues, it would help save space

I could have lived with 1/5 scale IF that would have been the only scale SSC used from the beginning. However, mixing 1/5 pieces with 1/4 pieces just looks awkward and in the end, something had to give. That's why COMs sales have tanked over the years. Collectors for the most part are simply rejecting them. It's time to put the COM line to better use. 1/4 fully sculpted pieces under the COM line would sell. There's obviously a market for them. Look at all the XM threads in this section and all the love (and money) they are receiving for their 1/4 fully sculpted pieces. The demand is there.

Yes yes yes.... 1:1, 1:2, 1:4. Enough. Keep it simple.

Nothing wrong with 1/5 but it doesn't match well with 1/4. It is strange because the 1/5 characters are for the most part not available in 1/4 and vice versa.

The Conan dio's were awesome in 1/5 and I am glad they were that size. It would be way too big otherwise.

With so many "1/4 scale or fail" purists out there, it's easy to see why the comiquette line gets bashed or at the very least minimized. And for those open-minded enough, who have started on a 1/4 scale collection, I can see their dilemma of branching out to a different scale. I started with the comiquettes and I think they're phenomenal. Honestly, they've never given me the level of frustration and dissatisfaction that seems to accompany every other PF release. And I'm glad that the J. Scott Campbell line has returned them to the conversation.

Once SS announce new 1:4 Spidey villain, then the 1:4 1:5 debate will begin again :rotfl

Well, the biggest problem is that the JSC line is limited. It was actually supposed to end after the first 3 initial releases. They added Black Cat after the fact. After BC, who knows if (or when) they'll release any more 1/5 Spidey pieces. The COM line has just become a mess over the years. The fact that SSC Reps themselves said the company will shift attention away from COMs in order to focus on their more profitable PF line told me everything I needed to know about the future of COMs. Just look at the DC license. All the PFs already released or in the works and not even a hint of a COM yet. If 1/5 scale sold well, we'd at least have seen one DC COM already released.

I have zero issues with 1/5 scale dios. Dios usually aren't that large so when we get a 1/5 piece it feels like a bonus. :lol However, I believe you very 1st statement hit the nail on the head.

1/5 pieces don't match up well with 1/4 pieces. As collectors, most of us like our displays to look as uniform in scale as possible. I personally only collect Marvel and DC pieces. My SSC Marvel collection is a mess because of scale issues and my total disdain for most of the cloth used on the older Marvel PFs. With the DC line however, SSC has just nailed those pieces. As a HUGE Marvel fan though, I'm hoping SSC sees the momentum XM is generating with their 1/4 fully sculpted pieces and establishes a dedicated 1/4 fully sculpted line of their own. I think there is plenty of room for PFs and a 1/4 fully sculpted line as well.

Yes sire, wake up wake up SS...

I'm sure SS gets more "bang for their buck" with the larger scale statues. Some PF's aren't that much larger or more complex than a comiquette, but the price tag can be, what, $200-250 more? I do wonder if the SS offerings over time played a role in the decline of the comiquette's popularity. You release less and less comiquettes, so they lose a foothold with consumers. People buy into the PF line, and are then reluctant to branch into other scales. A sort of self-fulfilling prophecy? Food for thought.

The fact that Black Cat got added has me hopeful. Like Adam Hughes before and J. Scott Campbell now, hopefully we get more artist-inspired comiquette lines in the future. FRANK CHO! :monkey3

You're speaking my language. I prefer fully sculpted, always have. There are times when SS gets it right and fabric application doesn't hurt a statue. The times it goes wrong are painful indeed. It feels good to have an alternate producer now, expensive as it may be.

I hope you guys get the fully sculpted 1/4 line. I personally like the mixed media, but that doesn't mean I'd never buy a fully sculpted statue. I mean, perfect examples are iron man for one. Another one is Spidey. I'm waiting to see the movie PF, but I don't think the cloth will look good on Spidey (keeping my hopes high thought).

That's what's exciting about XM. Even though I can't afford it right now, seeing the awesome displays people are making is so cool. And options for me down the road is never a bad thing! ;)
