Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

I still think IM3 is extremely underrated, because of a few hangups people get fixated on. It's a fun movie, and RDJ is great in the role, though it's probably a good idea not to give him too too much exposure at this point, considering how much we've seen of him, and how he's been written to dominate all the films he has been in.

I thought it was a fun interpretation of an Iron Man story. Can't wait to see what Whedon does with the character now.

I agree to a certain extent... im perfectly okay with the mandarin twist. Its a good twist. HOWEVER, im not ok with (a) the handling of Rhodey *what a useless character (b) the handling if the final battle with all the armors *underutilized and wtf does he blow them up? and (c) the tiding up of the story... doesnt feel like it meshes with the MCU. Marvel movies arent neat and tidy at the end.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

One of my quibbles was that the armors all seemed so weak at the end. It was as if they were all made of tin foil. But I thought the Mandarin thing, the drone suit, and the interaction with the kid were all fine personally. It did seem as if they were really trying to wrap up the Iron Man story at the end, which was odd, but we'll have to see how they explain his further involvement in later films.

unfortunately I just didn't like it at all. I've seen it a few times since i saw it in the movies because its been on cable, and Killian, the Mandarin, and the little kid I just did not like at all, and thats pretty much the bulk of the entire film. RDJ is great as always, Pepper was good as always, but the villain side of the movie I just did not enjoy. My favorite person was Rebecca Hall's character, and they hardly used her at all. The entire bioscience thing and the fact Pepper got infected and somehow survived it fairly easier was too far over the top for me. I look at it now like a long Agents of SHIELD episode. I liked IM2 much much more. But this is just my opinion, I know others enjoyed IM3.

I am not sure if you can consider it an underrated film. t made over $1 Billion. So there are millions of people who saw it and im sure liked it. But we are on a Freaks site, so your going to hear a lot of negativity about most things and in the scheme of things we are a very small group of people. Very small percentage.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

I'm referencing opinion on the boards. More have been vocally opposed to that film than any other Marvel U film apart from, maybe Iron Man 2 based on my observations. But yes, even if you look at critical consensus, the non-geek perspective is that this film was quite good. It has a metacritic score much higher than Man of Steel.

:rock

Oh and did anyone else feel bad for those poor guys trying to ready the Quinjets to help Steve? They were just a bunch of regular guys and were so loyal and enthusiastic about backing up their hero and then WS came and slaughtered them all. :(

Dude got kicked into the wing blades and just went poof!

:horror

And the other poor dude almost made it had not WS flung a grenade into the QJ just before the rear hanger door was closed.

Yeah those guys got the ****** end of the stick alright! :(

There's a bunch of Hail Hyda memes going around. Some of them are pretty good.

:lol :lol :lol

I think the shaky camera was very well used and gives a sense of chaos to the melee rather than it feeling overly choreographed.

I agree with ya Snad.

yes indeed. Really IM3 is the only Marvel Studios film I do not like. I always liked IM2. Its not amazing like the 1st IM film obviously, but I enjoy watching it. for IM3, I don't really care to ever see it again. :lol

Non-geek perspective is where I'm coming from :dunno
Plot 'n' script wise IM3 is a complete disaster. Thor 2 is a close second.

Still can't believe that TWS didn't suck... It's a miracle :lol

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

IM3 was the bomb. It's a lethal weapon flick set in the MCU.

Agreed.

Iron Man 3 wasn't bad at all. It was fun and witty in my opinion. As a kick off to the summer blockbuster season, it was perfect. Is it as good as Iron Man or Captain America: The Winter Soldier? No, but it was still enjoyable. If anything, Iron Man 3 had an aura of enthusiasm with the audience in my theater that I haven't felt since the Avengers.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Now more than ever I hope that all superhero fans can have a movie as good as TWS about their favorite character that is not *only* good but retains the spirit of the comics that inspired it.

I feel bad for diehard GL and FF fans. I'm glad that no matter what happens from here on out Cap will always a movie that can be mentioned alongside the likes of STM, Batman 89 and TDK films, IM1 and Spidey 2.

I actually put TFA above all those already but obviously I've got a serious bias. TWS is just straight across the board awesome no matter where your preference lies AND it's the movie to show to non-Cap fans to help them "get" what makes him so awesome.

Agreed on both sentiments. And being a big FF fan, I do feel sorry for myself on that measure :lol

And to Fabio's point, I got a similar vibe in IM3, that the rest of the audience was just enjoying themselves, and not grumbling about this or that issue.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Since I stopped viewing this thread for a couple months prior to the film's release I totally missed the reveal of this poster. I NEED IT.

But it's one of those dumb super limited cast and crew deals? That sucks. Did the cast and crew poster for the First Avenger ever pop up for sale on ebay or anywhere else?

Well said.

Oh, and Cap 2 makes IM3 seem even worse off for me.

I am just not a fan of that movie.

Its not MOS bad, but Thor 2 was better and Thor 1 was better than both.
