I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said. This does remind one of the Super Premium figure and that should be a problem. Even though X-Plus labels these as Garage Toys, they are not to be considered toys. They are garage kits that are pre-assembled and painted. Accuracy should be paramount. Leave stylized to toy lines. I understand that X-Plus has an easy extension to their offerings by using some existing sculpts, but find something that lives up to their standards. Although it's not a 95, this 89 by Gow Row might have been a nicer choice. It's the same size as the Kaibutsuya 95. Don't know what kind of agreement X-Plus has with Kaibutsuya, but I'm not going to be happy if they keep going this route. View attachment 102550

That Gow 89 is INCREDIBLE!!! X-Plus needs to release something like THAT!!! :thud: :hi5:

Hopefully you did not buy that Megalon. You can buy 2 of these with that money sit tight for so few months; sell one for 9 Hundy plus and buy your Megalon and in the end you will have saved 400 plus

No, I didn't buy Megalon and still searching for a better price on him. The temptation to buy him at that price actually went away since the figure sold to someone else. So, someone purchased him for that price. :slap

My biggest concern about that is, if people continue to buy Megalon, etc; for those prices, sellers will continue to list and want that amount for them!

Right now, my main focuses are still the Godzilla 1973 and Godzilla 1967.

As others have said, X-Plus does and has used other companies' sculpts for some of their figures. Seems like the Gigantic line will be more stylized just due to the mass and power of the sculpts. But who knows? Eventually they may run out of Kaibutsuya sculpts to use (there aren't that many) so after that things might change. I personally always liked the Kaibutsuya '95 so I'm excited to get it in vinyl. It's absolutely massive and less stylized than the GMK, at least.

For those who haven't seen this, Kyle from Kaijucast visited X-Plus and asked them about the gigantic line and the reasoning behind the sculpts. 11:37 to 13:30 for that particular topic.

Holy **** that's a gorgeous Zilla. Blows the new one out of the water. That face is killer.

Oh my God! I'm So excited for the gmk gigantic series 1995 burning godzilla!!! I ordered 3 sets already. lol. One for me, one for my friend and another one I'm buying to customise. Heck even if I don't decide to customise it, it's crazy how how much these things sell for! I've always wanted the original bandai burning godzilla but no way in hell I could afford that! :(

I really really want the Hedorah. So bummed when I missed out on it. Do you guys think they'll release him in the GMK gigantic series?

GMK stands for "Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack," the name of the film from which the '01 Godzilla came from. So we either refer to him as '01 or "GMK." The series these larger figures are from is simply called "gigantic."

As for Hedorah, I doubt he'll ever make an appearance in that scale. Way too big and way too much money for a monster that only appeared in one film (technically two if you count his brief stint in Final Wars). Good news for you, though: if you missed him in 30cm scale, Previews magazine has led us to believe that Diamond will reissue that figure by the end of 2014.

Every reissue they've announced/released so far has been on these pages. The only ones left are Hedorah, Gorosaurus, Anguirus '55, Goji '55, Goji '62, Goji '67 (actually '68; the magazine is misprinted), and Goji '89.

Just ordered the new Gigantic Burning Godzilla from HLJ. Love that design but I agree with everyone who says the Gow Row '89 blows it out of the water. Really wish X-Plus would repop that Gow Row '89 Goji in the future.

Thanks for the detailed explanation dude! Really appreciate it! So with regard to the Diamond release where can I get it from? (I'm not familiar ) Would be really nice to have Hedorah. Him and Biollante are my top two favourite!

Yeah I want that '89 in a more affordable mode. A gigantic vinyl would even fine as long as it looks that good.

That '89 might not be as big as the 3-4' tall Kaiyodo Godzilla '89 from Sakai, but the sculpt is much nicer.

This thread is so much fun to read. Good pics and info here. I was never a Godzilla fan, but am now an owner of a few basic figures from TRU and kmart, hoping to graduate to the higher end figs and kits once I am more familiar with all the years/types/monsters.
But I'm wondering about something - The more I get into this, and the more I see some of the previous years designs, with the big heads, powerful jaws, big teeth, the more I dislike the the 2014. It just looks to me like someone took a big body and attacked a small dog's head to it.
Don't u guys think the mouth/jaws/teeth design looks like a canine, not a reptilian?

Just pulled the trigger on the sh 2000 godzilla. Excited but also bummed that he cost as much as he did.

Godzilla has a bear face with the nobility of a bald eagle, it's different and I love it.

can anyone share more info about the burning godzilla? i want to buy if it lights up. how tall will it be? thanks

Ive been the harshest critic here of the new design and I agree with you. Im not a huge fan of his tubby body and tiny head. The looks like he'll beat his opponent simply by being fatter than him, not with long sharp teeth, cunning and ruthless claw-to-claw tactics like Godzilla in the past.

Seeing more of the new Godzilla its still not a terrible design but could be much better. I honestly think so many people are just happy hes not a large iguana and actually resembles Gojira that in several months when hype about this film halts you will see a lot of people change their mind about the design. Especially if a sequel comes out and they throw in trademark fangs, ears, fiercer eyes, etc.

I genuinely love the new desing, I love how his face looks, the body, the detail to his skin, the spines, all of it. I could give you traits I love about a number of designs, but I don't feel them missing from this one. I'm an adult now, I was a teenager when G98 came out and at the time, I let myself get caught up in hype and didn't see the flaws until I was older. With this new one, I went in with a critical state of mind and I've just been happy with everything I've seen. I've also spent almost a year trying to finish and illustration of him and have scoured every imager out there and know this design very well and have gotten very fomforatable with it.

I'm also used to liking Godzilla designs others don't and I don't care. For many, the '84 suit is in the top 5 worst in the series and it's my absolute favorite. Everyone has their favorites and I accept that people will or won't like ones I do. I see the reasons people don't like G2014, but I'm fine with them.

The websites that will for sure carry the new releases (as in actually have preorders when they're announced) are Entertainment Earth, Anime Island, Amok Time, and Things From Another World. Most people typically order from the first two or three, but be advised that Entertainment Earth experienced some delays in receiving their figure shipments for the last wave. Ultimately it's up to you.

Amazon has also been known to carry the Diamond reissues, but I would use them only as an absolute last resort. To ensure you get the actual intended price and timely shipping, go with one of the previously-mentioned retailers. There's no telling how many of these make it to Amazon, how much they'll cost, and how fast they'll sell out. For instance, the first wave's Godzilla '54 and Mechagodzilla '74 remained on Amazon for a few months for under $150, but everything that's come out since either sold out rapidly or is listed for way too much money. Too unpredictable.

Last bit of advice is to treat these as if they were fresh Japanese releases. In other words, don't hesitate too long before preordering because, like their original Japanese counterparts, when they're gone -- they're gone. Aftermarket pricing on the Gargantuas is huge and the Godzilla '64 (which is expected to ship this month) has sold out in preorders everywhere except Entertainment Earth.

I'd recommend joining the X-Plus Kaiju Collectors' Club on Facebook. All of these things and more are explained, plus you have a large community of seasoned collectors that can help you out.

We're assuming the Ric Boy edition (exclusive to X-Plus' website) will have a light-up feature, but we're not sure at this point. X-Plus hasn't created a product page for the gigantic Burning Godzilla on their site yet so it's hard to tell what the standard and exclusive editions will come with. Know that if you end up wanting the exclusive, it will be pricier and you'll either have to set up a package forwarding service like Tenso or pay someone with a Tenso to buy it for you. For you too, I suggest joining the X-Plus Kaiju Collectors' Facebook group. There are members on there that you can go through to get your exclusives if you want to take that route, plus lots more help in other topics.

As for the size, we have this information from AmiAmi:

"Appx. H48 x W87.5cm including the tail"

Nearly 19 inches tall and 34.5 inches long. No information on the width of the figure. Keep in mind that these numbers may change. It doesn't happen often, but I remember people being bummed out when the 30cm '99 Godzilla was announced that his height measurements were small. Upon release, he was larger and properly in-scale with his 30cm buddies.

I have the 54 on preorder from movie replica direct for 134.99. This is my first time ordering from them. They have a few other Xplus's up for preorder; just put Toho in their search engine and try to keep your addiction in check
