I'm ok with Cooper Ford is great but his time is is done he's 71 now by the time he does another he might be 73 or 74 .

Someone else could play an Indiana Jones type character, but no one could replace Ford as Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones.:lecture

I'm not concerned with what all the people raging about it have in their hearts. That's not something that'll change, and shouldn't. I feel the same way really, but that doesn't alter the extreme likelihood that Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones is going have a new face in new films. And I'm willing to give it a shot instead of being one of the perpetually negative and angry fanboys who gnashes his teeth, kicks and pounds the floor, and puffs his chest up indignantly, bemoaning his lost childhood, or some other stupid crap, every time something comes up in the world of entertainment that he doesn't like without even thinking about it first.

Or maybe I've been thinking about it for the past 20 years and have long since come to the conclusion that I would rather never see an Indy without Harrison.

Imagine Kingdom of the Crystal Skull without Harrison because that is exactly what every movie you get from now on will be. Dumb plot, little violence, tons of over the top CGI, no heart. The future you want. There were hundreds of problems with CS, zero of which were Ford.

Sorry, my crystal ball has been in the shop for a couple weeks. There's a part they just can't find anywhere. I envy your working one right now. :(

The old films are campy and outdated. We need a new grounded in reality Indiana Jones.

PLACEPICARDVIDEOHERE

Yeah, because that's totally what....no one said. :slap

You don't need to be physic to see that Crystal Skull was garbage with the creators of Raiders of the Lost Ark involved. And that none of that was because of Harrison Ford, the man who plays Indy. Or that any reboot where they don't have Time Travel and try to replace an iconic character by just instead wiping away 30 years of highly regarded films ends up being a financial failure because no ones interested.

None of which makes a warm squirt of piss difference in what the future holds. But, hey, burn it all down, man.

But, hey, burn it all down, man.

Not me, that's what you want. You think they are going to recast Indiana Jones and continue on from him being 60+. They will reboot it completely and burn down Raiders, Temple of Doom, Last Crusade, Sean Connery as Henry Sr. Everything you love which is why I assume you'd even be in an Indy thread. All wiped away because Disney made an investment. So support this corporate money grab if you want, and damn all Harrison Ford while your at it, you already are claiming things like he's over and done and just some guy that smokes weed and has an earring. Bring on Bradley Cooper, he's such a man's man. Maybe we'll finally get a good Indiana Jones movie. :lol

These are the people who made the National Treasure movies btw. I'm sure they know better than the guys who created Raiders.

Cálmate. Yeah, that's not at all what I said. You should read slower before reacting to things, Mr. Angry Trousers. :lol
Getting all kinds of huffy over the rumor of Bradley Cooper.

Here is what I posted:
Ford was too crotchety in the last one to think of him as anything other than taking Marcus Brody's place in a new movie. If they're going to continue the story with Ford, I'd like to see someone other than Shia play his son and go on that way.

If they want to go back and tell more Indy stories, I don't know how easy it would be for me to buy someone else playing the same part. But I'd be willing to give it a shot and do my best to not compare.

Looks like I used "if" a few times and didn't make any definitive remarks. I said nothing you put in my mouth. But now you're going from reading a crystal ball to thinking you can read my mind.

I think they could easily go back and tell more Indy stories with another actor, stories that are woven into the same time periods of the other movies, but also quite separate. They don't have to dissolve anything that the others created.

Indiana Jones is a character like Superman. He's more iconic than one actor.

I think that like Superman they will re-vamp things to make it a fresh approach. It would be a mistake to try to re-do the Harrison Ford version of the character.

Lastly there's Disney.... They didn't shell out $4.25B to retire Lucasfilm's crown jewels.

He's not remotely like Superman. Or Spiderman or James Bond. Those are literary characters born in print. He exists in the 30s and 40s where CGI looks insanely out of place. There is nothing to "re-vamp".

Harrison is the only damn version of the character. If you aren't doing his version you're doing Nathan Drake or Lara Croft or Nic Cage from National Treasure, or Brendan Frasier, you aren't doing Indy. Amazing how some people don't get that aspect.

Eh, I don't think Indiana Jones is like Superman or James Bond or Sherlock Holmes or Batman.

Indiana Jones wasn't a comic book character, a character from a novel or a radio show adapted to the big screen. He was created in 1980 for the first time ever and was played by Harrison Ford. Ford sorta is Indiana Jones. It's not like some legacy character (again, Superman, Bond, Holmes or Batman) where the hat gets passed down to person to person. No. It started as a feature length film and has been nothing but Ford's character.

Disney should just rerelease Raiders in theaters, that would be cool. Even though I have it on blu-ray, I'd pay to see it again on the big screen. I mean, do we really need to see Doctor Jones again or some kind of knock off clone in sequels? What more really needs to be said about the character?

Disney should just devote millions of dollars to that technology that they used on Jeff Bridges in Tron:Legacy. Do everything in their power to make it not creepy, them, have Ford play young Indy in like twenty more movies.:lol
