Damn..that's pretty much what I want mine to look like, except darker with a lot of weathering. Kind of like the Weta 1/6 Sauron but with some of the lava glow left on.

That looks excellent, I really like the natural look of the skulls.
The more repaints I see, the more I go back to thinking SS should have just left this piece alone. I sure hope the lava glow on mine isn't too heavy-handed. Regardless of how mine arrives, I have no plans to repaint it because the sculpt still blows me away. The lighting is pretty dim where my Sauron is going, so hopefully the paint wont be an issue.
Well here's mine in natural light. I still think it looks amazing as is (lighting is key) but I still would like to darken it up some and do some weathering on it. Yes I know the mace isn't on properly

damn. Makes no difference since I got mine through a lcs and for cheaper than even applying double points, but that's cool they actually put a piece worth buying on double points.
Maybe I'll spring for black orc. Not my favorite statue, but a good price and still a good piece.

In person it is great, I was very impressed with my Black Orc. He has been on low quantity alert a few times so now would be a good time to get him.
I drove down to meet Rafael and pick up Sauron today. I must say it was a treat to see his workshop and amazing collection. It was a pleasure talking to him over dinner about his ideas and takes on different projects. Very humble guy and he believes in sharing ideas and inspiring others to try. When I got in the door and saw Sauron on the table, I was blown away at how truly amazing it is person. I kid you not, this repaint is beyond my imagination. Again, I want to say thank you my friend Rafael for taking on this project. I'm a happy camper.
